I was first inside EPCOT Center!

I am reporting live from Innoventions Plaza.

As the title says, I was the first non-tour guest welcomed through the gates of EPCOT Center. My little brother and I were chosen as the pirates (yes, Jack is everywhere he should not be) who countdown the opening of the turn stiles.

We just joined a small crowd in front of the Fountainview Stage. The sun is glaring down quite hard. It seems more people were interested in Soarin' as their first stop. I am glad we rode yesterday as FastPass will probably be gone in a few minutes and the Stand-By worse. More to come after the rededication ceremony.

I know I said I'd report later, but I had one quick thing I wanted to make sure I report. The area music in Future World is classic EPCOT Center. I'm not that well versed, all I've recognized is "Listen to the Land".

The rededication ceremony just ended. No announcements made. The forced mentions of "The Year of a Million Dreams" were met unenthusoastically. All in all a nice event. Now I am off to Mission: SPACE and Test Track (how unclassis of me).

Nothing? What did they just go, "Welcome to Epcot Center, celebrating it's 25th year today. Oh and btw did you happen to know about our YOAMD promotion?"

Please tell me they didn't use this wonderful occasion to market YOAMD?!

Summer, your description is not far off. Only Jim McPhee said "EPCOT Center". There was a small Cast Member appretiation, with The Land still sporting its logo. CommuniCore Fountain (they did say CommuniCore) was "restarted" with water from around the world by World Showcase Cast Members.

I wouldn't lok here for pictures. I forgot the camera at my room so I am using my cell phone.

We just finished looking at the small gallery exhibit. The marquee uses the old font and flower logo, sans "Center". It is a nice little display showcasing EPCOT Center old and new. It reminds me of the preshow at "First 50 Magical Years".

A small aside. I am continually impressed by the condition of the models. I have to make similar models for school and they can warp and wear quite easily. I think it is great that they are preserved and occasionaly displayed.

We just finished seeing the new version of "O! Canada". It was alright. Not bad. I wasn't a big fan of the old film so I would say I'm nuetral. I am getting a bit tired of the lame, post-modern Disney.

Where is the gallery exhibit and will it be there for an extended period, moved somewhere else or dismantled after today?

The gallery is on the west side of Innoventions West between the Epcot Character Spot and Club Cool. I will try to get some answers on the duration of its stay. It seems too well done to be gone incredibly soon.

Communicore Fountain? I thought it was called the Fountain of Nations?

Oh and I read somewhere the EPCOT exhibit will be on display through the end of the year. Hope it's true as I want to see them when I go next month.
