GF Gingerbread House?

Does anyone know when the gingerbread house at the grand floridian will be open???

Also, anyone ever eaten at BOMA ???
Any review would be welcome

This life-size gingerbread house will be on display in the lobby of the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort beginning Thanksgiving weekend.
While the structure is a feast for the eyes, it is functional too. Guests may purchase mouth-watering Santa lollipops, gingerbread cookie people, gingerbread ornaments, gingerbread cookies, stollen bread, and Grand Floridian chocolate logo boxes filled with truffles and peppermint bark. What else is offered? Miniature gingerbread houses, of course!

How does one go about making a life-size gingerbread house? First you gather the ingredients:

• 1,050 lbs. of honey
• 600 lbs. powdered sugar
• 35 lbs. spices
• 800 lbs. flour
• 140 pints of egg whites
• 180 lbs. apricot glaze
• and, over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread

Of course, you better have plenty of time on your hands. It takes nearly 400 hours to just bake the gingerbread and 160 hours to decorate the house. When you're done though it is an imposing structure 16 feet high by 17 feet wide with 80 sq. ft. of retail space.

I've eaten at Boma, just a couple of weeks ago, and i really enjoyed it! I tried a variety of things i'd never tried before - some i liked some i didnt and some i'll never forget becasue i didnt!! lol!

I watched them build part of it last year. It was really interesting. It's really a solid shell that the pieces are glued onto and then covered in tons of icing. I don't know what material the shell is made of but that is the reason you can have a store inside it.

That house is so beautiful! My family and I visited two years ago and it's really a sight to see. Definitely a Kodak spot.

They sell gingerbread shingles inside the shop, but I wouldn't recommend them. We tried the ones with the chocolate on the bottom and they were pretty awful. They look a lot better than they taste!

Ahh... I was just walking through the lobby of the Grand yesterday and thinking how I can't wait for the Gingerbread House to return! It makes the whole lobby just smell amazing and really puts you in a Christmassy mood!

And I have to agree on the shingles... they're not that great to taste.
