Good, calls get dismissed, letters must be dealt with per Disney Policy. I too have a food allergy to raw tomatoes, its mild but with it listed in the priority seating notes most of the chef's came out to speak to me about it before we ordered. All jokes aside that is completely unacceptable the way it was handled by the CM's.

I used to love 'Ohana as well.

My last meal there was in early 2006 and was right after the severe dumbing down/menu changes took effect. While the meal was decent, it wasn't special and I haven't gone back nor seen any reason to.

That said, I find your complaints very valid. And the deal with your daughter's allergy is VERY serious. I would have immediately asked for the area manager.

Now, that you're back, if you feel strongly you should call to the Poly and find out who the manager is and either talk to him/her or write them.

I am sure the place is making more $$$ now than it was three years ago and that's all Disney seems to care about. ... Unless they get enough complaints that's how things will remain.

PS: And don't forget all the awesome things that used to be on the Ohana menu, but have been removed: The bread, the salmon, the pineapple with caramel, the old appetizers that were served on the lazy susan, the shrimp skewers, the lo mein... now we have super-salty chips, chicken wings and wilted salad.

I have had nothing but great experiences there. The one thing I have always known about WDW dining is that if something is sub-par I don't go back. There are too many options to go to a bad place twice. I also know that everyone and evey restaurant have off nights. No one's perfect. I would suggest sending the food back if its brought to you and you're not ready. What would they do? Say no? Absolutely not. Sorry you had a bad experience but I strongly disagree. Ohana has become and easy target and IMO its all based on people's misconceptions of what they were getting. It is noisy, it is kitschy and it is a bit of a flashback. No surprise there.
I have to respectfully disagree... I have never really been a terrible Ohana basher- after all, I went there again this year! But here is a detailed explaination of the terrible experience I had there this time around, which I posted on another site. I think after reading it you'll have to agree that this is not a case of 'Ohana bashing', but a really terrible experience:

My Review: We always go to Ohanas, every trip, for years. Recently though, the changes on the menu and the extremely rushed service have made me rethink this, and I had planned to skip it this year. However, dh was nostalgic and asked me to add it back on to our PS list, so I did. What a mistake- after the experience we had this time, it's officially off my list of places I will dine in WDW. Here's the short list of problems we encountered; our main issues this time were with service:

    - Food Allergy Carelessness: I always make sure to tell our server about dd's peanut allergy. In the past, the chef would always come out and talk to us about it. This time? Right after I tell our server, the food delivery man (for lack of a better term) plunks down the dipping sauces on our table, with the peanut sauce literally right in front of my daughter!!! I was stunned! If I had not seen that and known it was peanut sauce from previous visits to Ohana, this could have been a life-threatening 'mistake'!

    - Dry, unappetizing food: The food was somewhat dry, as it has been over the past years, but the sausage took the cake. Wow, was that sausage or wood? I long for the days of salmon being an option. Also, the peel and eat shrimp was so appetizing when you looked closely and saw that it was not pre-cleaned (evident by the shrimp poop line intact within the shrimp). Yummy! I decided to skip the shrimp and sausage and wait for the pork and steak, which rolls into my next issue...

    - Spotty food delivery people: For some reason, the food delivery people never brought over steak or pork, even though we asked for it multiple times. Finally, after about 15 min of waiting, the busboy started taking our plates. I had to stop him and say, "You are not taking our plates until we get the other 1/2 of our meal!!!". Finally they brought the steak and pork. It's a good thing I knew we were supposed to get it, or we would have missed out!

    - Dessert Disaster: After they brought the steak and pork, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted dessert. Another show was starting, and my parents, daughter and I were getting up to join in. I told the waitress that we were all getting up, and to please hold the dessert until the show was over. We came back, and there was our dessert on the table, all melted and having sat there through the whole show I am sure. This was the final straw for me. I know Ohana is busy, but the other problems could have just been mistakes as the servers rush around. However, I specifically asked her to hold the dessert, and she just totally ignored my request to try to turn over the table faster. I had to act with my wallet and leave her a poor tip.

... and of course this list does not mention the wait time to be seated, crouded atmosphere and rushing service, since those are to be expected at Ohanas. I guess Disney has finally bled the rock dry with this formerly great restaurant. I just wonder how long people will keep going there- I guess they may not know or remember how truely great this place used to be.

I just had to share my terrible Ohana experience. I know that everyone says that Ohana is a must do. It used to be a must do, but not anymore. It has been going downhill for years, but now it has hit rock bottom. My advice would be to save your money and try somewhere else first.

Ah, that brings tears to my eyes! the 16th was the day before my dd's birthday, when they told me she was not out so we stayed over at MGM. Then on the 17th, they told me she would be out, we went over there, and the france cast members told me she had been out the day before. If only I had known she was out on the 16th- I would have hot footed it right over to EPCOT!

As someone else has already given the storyline of POTC fairly well, I'll cover the gran fiesta one.

The three cabelleros are scheduled to perform a concert in Mexico, but as soon as they get into the country, Donald being Donald takes off to start checking out all the sites. So the other two have to chase him all over the country so that they can make the performance. I think it does a great job of introducing the characters into the ride and adding some fun to it as well as showing off much of the beauty and history of Mexico.

In the end they finally grab Donald and make it to their performance on time which is what you see at the end of the ride.

NO luck, until her birthday, when we were told marie would be in france at 1:30! It was great! WE got over there... and it was all a big mistake. Marie had actually appeared the day before. I was so annoyed. Ok, I can understand if they told me marie was cancelled- things can change, and maybe the actor became ill. BUt I had called every day, and they told me she had not been in the park when she had been! The cast members in france acted like this happens a lot, and I have to say that they need to tighten up this service if they can- it could lead to a lot of disappointment.

Tha japanese are into "cuteness" and Marie is concidered the cutest character Disney has out there... I guess she reminds the japanese of Hello Kitty, who has her own theme park as well in west Tokyo, Sanrio Puroland in Tama.

But here at WDW, I have only seen her at the Chinese Theater forecourt doing photo meets.
Is there some cultural significance to the Marie Fetish with the Japanese? I know they have the happy cat that has some sort of link to prosperity. I'm just wondering if there's something else going on there...

Idon't mind paying to have name put on hat, in california we paid to have bows put on the mouse ears so they would be "minnie" ears instead. I was surprised they haven't started charging for them in California because they have the nice programable sewing machines where you type in the name and the machine does the rest. I don't really consider that declining by degrees.

but I still don't know why the pirates want Jack in the first place though
Jack wears mascara, acts queenish, and has a sense of fashion.. Why do you think the other pirates want him?

Look at the Germany 'poster'- they have a photo of the pavilion during construction, but the photo is actually Norway under construction! You can tell by the large Malestrom show building, and the countries next door.
Interesting. I will have to check that out later this week.

    >>3. No more slow times! I guess disney marketing has succeeded, because there are really no more slow times. October was our traditional visiting time, because it was so slow- but last week was as busy as the summertime! I don't know what was up, but it was crazy. That was a disappointment, but we dealt with it.<<

September is still pretty slow. But October is such a huge convention month, then with the Halloween parties and Food and Wine - this year was the busiest I've ever seen!

Well, I won't be around for the rest of the day, so here's the error. I wish my dh had taken a picture of it!

Love your "kevin-speak".. declining by degrees..LOL!
Can you tell I love his columns? I usually agree with him on a lot, lol.

Glad you had a good trip - any more pics?
Yes, we took over 600 pics! We're bad like that. I will look through them tonight and see if there are any other good ones to share.

I have to note about the Marie character hotline error- the employees in France were incredible and real 'old- disney' customer service. They were going to give my dd a marie plush to make it up to her, but she already had the plush so they gave her a Marie sticker set. It was a very nice consolation, but I still wish the character hotline worked better! Also, with the push on Marie toys everywhere in the parks, why is she so rare to meet still? ugh.

Now, waiting to find out what the error is...
I will give you all one more day to see if anyone knows the error in the EPCOT Center display... here's a hint. It's in one of the World Showcase posters. I'll post the answer this afternoon!
