  • Space Mountain & Jungle Cruise

I've heard more than enough rumors of a refurb of Space Mountain and Jungle Cruise. Can anyone confirm how official (if at all) these rumors are? I know this has been tossed around a lot, but I've heard from some sources that (Disney) has been discussing it alot recently to the point that it could actually happen.

I've heard that they might be doing the Jungle Cruise for the Film? Nothing I've heard (as a far as I know) is set in stone.

I've heard that Jungle Cruise will be going down to rehab the queue building. The Adventureland Fruit Cart will be going down for that time as well, due it's roof being part of the queue building.

This sounds like you are referring to the DL Jungle Cruise perhaps?

From what I have read, Space Mountain seems to be the next major rehab coming soon. But, it has not been confirmed by Disney as of yet.

          Screamscape.com

Screamscape sources tell us that currently the planned rehab of Space Mountain is now on schedule to begin in June 2008 and will last until April or May of 2009. So you may want to get your fix of Space Mountain goodness now, because Tomorrowland is going to be a fairly boring place to be this summer.
          Jungle Cruise:

The latest rumors suggest that Jungle Cruise may shut down twice in 2008 for a two-phase rehab that could add some upgrades to the attraction. The first closure is expected to happen either in late 2007 or early 2008, possibly finishing just before Space Mountain goes down for rehab.

Hopefully they don't give it the same exact rehab as disneyland. Glad I'm going two times before then though.

Re: Space Mountain & Jungle Cruise

Im a cast member at Space Mountain and we have been told that the refurb will begin in either february or june and will be down for 12-16 months.

The only things that we are fairly certain of in the refurb budget are as follows:

*load station enclosures (makes the ride darker)
*load station gates with cool neon and fiber optic lighting
              *new consoles
*a general decoration update and refurb
*new track (not sure if there will be a design change - not likely though)
*new trains with two seats per row and on-board audio
*new digital projections for the stars and planets
              *new soundtrack and show/pre-show audio

again, i cant make a 100% guarantee of this, but its what we have been told is most likely going to happen, among other things...

the other rumors include a main lift launch, loops, barrel rolls, and other crazy things, but we'll see....ill keep y'all posted....its been a while since ive posted here on MC...

                Oh ha ha.

I just hope the Space Mountain rehad won't happen when I'm in WDW this year! (Though right now, it appears to be reschedueled to Spring or Winter 08)

Now hang on to them hats n' glasses, cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!

BTW, has anybody seen what Screamscape said about a June 2008 rehab?

a year or more?? wow. I remember the last time they did a major rehab. They worked on it durring the day and you could see the work as you rode the people mover through the mountain. It was kinda cool to see the track with the lights on. I wonder if Sm and star tours will be down at the same time? I know it's two different parks but that's two e level attractions down for a significant period. at least it frees up the SM crew to work elsewhere.

Disneyland is quite a distance away from Walt Disney World.

These sounds a little pie in the sky. WDW will likely get a cheaper version on DL's meaning no audio, no new cars

More than likely the rehab will include better (or should I say worse) lighting to make it darker and improved atmospheric effects (Say goodbye to the Giant Cookie).

you do realize that WDW has to compete with Universal's plans right?? so, the budget has likely been increased. In addition, those are some BASIC things that need to be done any wich way. Remember...space hasnt been refurbed in 32 years, so this isnt really asking too much. Thats also what has been confirmed to me by engineering/duty managers...
