  • Was New Orleans an original site for Walt Disney World?

I saw some article on some local New Orleans news station website that Walt Disney considered New Orleans North Shore as a possible site for Walt Disney World before he chose Florida as the eventual site for Walt Disney World. Is it a rumor or no?

The daughter of Walt Disney passed away. Diane Disney was quite the influence on her father. So much in fact, that he credits her with inspiring him to build Disneyland in California, and eventually Disney World in Orlando.

Interesting find. I've heard of plans for St. Louis, Niagra falls and Palm Beach before. I'm sure New Orleans was also considered it was already a place tourists visited but I guess like the article says it would have been much harder for Walt to build Epcot city in Louisiana which swung things in Orlandos favour
