Thanks for posting the great video. WOW! This must be amazing to see in person. Where is this in the park? I was there a few years ago, but I don't recognize the street. And why are they calling it the Osborne Family lights? Which Osbornes are these? Ozzie?
Sorry for the questions. This is the first time I've seen these, and I think they're amazing.

I think the area that these lights are in is towards Muppet Vision 3D and Mama Melrose's Italian Restaurant. New York Street is it? I'm not good with MGM "street" names, so I'm probably wrong, but I do know how to get there without the map.
It's actually based on a real family. I forget what state the Osborne family was from..... but it had something to do with this family not being able to put up all of the Christmas lights that they wanted to...? Type them into Google and I'm sure you will get the info on them.
Anyhow, thanks for posting that video. It was so cool!!! I wish I could get down to WDW for all of the Christmas fun, but I can't. My parents went down last year the day after Thanksgiving. Lucky, lucky, lucky!

Everybody neat and pretty? Then, on with the show! -MMC
wow, ive never watched any of the videos of this before, do they not have any problems with guests suffering from epilepsy
Epilepsy is only triggered by lights flashing at multiples of 3 per second. As one who's had to deal with it since childhood, I really enjoy the Osborne lights, although they can get a bit overwhelming at times.
Yup. Has something to do with the frequency of the brain and the optic nerve. I know from long experience that whenever a strobe starts to go off, I'll dive down and put an arm over my eyes, then peak out slowly and see if I'm going to have a problem. It can get a little scary at concerts sometimes, but I've learned to deal with it.
Good morning, son
In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things... sigpic

Not true. It is a specific number, but it is specific to the person and varies between people who have photosensitive epilepsy.

The story is they are from a family in Utah that did it every year adding more and more lights to the house each year... Must be one heck of a large house! The lights cover the cross streets in the backlog area, all of NY and the cross streets there are literally covered in lights and they have fack snow falling. All the CM's are dancing and wearing scarves etc, and they sell Hot Chocolate in light up suvineer mugs for around 12$. Its quite the experience!
I Didn't really time it but it was about every 10 mins or so they have it set up as a fake radio station that would tell you info about the lights etc then they dance.
I have a couple more songs I'll post when we get home, my wife managed to miss a step at the electric umbrella and break her ankle, we have basically thrown the plans out the window and are trying to get her into a orthopedic today...
Mikey, I'll do a bit of research today, and hopefully one of us will learn something new (hey, it just might be ME!).
Well, looks like I'm the one doing the larnin' today! Here's a quote from a medical website -
"Between five and 30 flashes per second (hertz) are the common frequencies to trigger seizures, but this varies from person to person. While some people are sensitive at higher frequencies than 30 hertz, it is not common to be sensitive below five hertz."
Seems I need to find some of my old doctors and do a little drop-kicking!

Odd question, but did they have the radio station name be something clever (like UoE is KNRG, Grizzly Peak is KGRR, and RnRC is KRNR)?
Thanks for sharing this Jerren! I haven't seen them dance in person yet, but it looks amazing! I know it was when I saw them two years ago. I'm looking forward to the dancing this year though. :cgrin:
Anyway, I hope the rest of your trip goes a lot better than the rest of it yesterday.
The Osborne's were in Little Rock, Arkansas. Walt Disney World bought the rights to the name in 1995 after an Arkansas court ruled the original Osborne display of over a million lights was a public nuisance. Here is a link with more information, http://www.jenningsosbornefamily.com...ts/default.asp
The Christmas music that plays in the Osborne light display area is the best I have heard in any of the Disney theme parks. When I go back I will write down a few of the songs so you can get an idea. It sets the mood perfectly.
And the video is beautiful. Thanks for posting it.

A couple of the songs, Christmas Eve in Sarajevo and the one in Jerren's video, are of the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Their pieces are terrific!
