COVID-19 Pandemic Exhibit at Disney's Animal Kingdom

Disney's Animal Kingdom seems uniquely suited to discussing the pandemic, and its origins in a wet market where this novel coronavirus passed from a bat to a pangolin and from a pangolin to a human.

Such an exhibit could weave the measures Walt Disney World is now taking into the larger story being presented and could help demystify the mechanics of the virus.

EPCOT's Future World COULD've done this, but at this time guests are going to Disney parks to escape the horror of everyday life.
And COVID-19 information can be Googled.

I do like this idea though, and a clear Disney presentation of this is something I would check out. But I'm weird.

The Newseum in D.C. would also have been an interesting venue for an exhibit about the coronavirus, but that museum closed. (Excellent museum, but some believed that their high admission price when they were so close to some of the world's best museums--some with free admission--doomed it.)

The theory of it being passed through bats & pangolins is only a hypothesis, not a confirmed fact. Facts have changed over the virus, since it was discovered last year. This makes it hard to give concrete facts over the virus.

I don't know if the presentation would be viewed positively, as people go to the parks for escapism, not current events.

Ignoring the presence of the virus is precisely the wrong thing to do. The Walt Disney Company is reminding people all the time that they must constantly help prevent the spread of the pathogen while on the premises.

Explaining the mechanics of the virus is needed. Once individuals understand more about the transmission, they can feel more comfortable because they are among many other similarly-educated people.

Animals are one of the kingdoms of organisms on Earth. Viruses, unlike bacteria and other microbes, are not quite organisms, partly because viruses cannot reproduce by themselves. They can only replicate by infecting a cell of a host organism.

I totally agree with you on this in principle, but I also have to agree with the notion that a theme park shouldn’t include an ‘attraction’ based on a current pandemic.

The park should post the rules, enforce the rules and even provide additional info on the pandemic and safety measures. But an attraction would be a little much.
