  • Stitch's Great Escape, Primeval Whirl & World of Light go to YesterWorld

WDW has official given the immediate axe to 3 attractions that all have had a rocky history.

    Per DIS:
According to a post on Twitter from Disney Reporter Scott Gustin Thursday, Disney has announced that two Walt Disney World attractions and one nighttime spectacular would be closing for good.

Stitch's Great Escape in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom has changed to a character meet and greet and switched to a seasonal attraction over the years, but now it's going to be closed permanently.

Primeval Whirl in DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney's Animal Kingdom is also closing down.

Since Disney's Animal Kingdom reopened last week, the park has been closing by 6:00 p.m. We can't confirm that this is the reason for the theme park's nighttime spectacular, Rivers of Light, to be permanently discontinued, but we'll update this post when we receive confirmation.
-Primeval Whirl opened on March 31st, 2002 with Chester's & Hester's Dinorama expansion. The ride was changed to seasonal/'removed for maintenance' over the year ago. Tragedy has occur on the ride previously, as 2 separate incidents occured involving a cast members dying, which happened in 2007 and 2011.

-Stitch's Great Escape has been previously called the 'worst Disney attraction ever' since it open on November 16, 2004, for it being cheesy and crude. When the attraction opened Cinderella's castle was given a temporary 'trashed retheme' of to promote the ride. And to add to all of the hype, Stitch merchandise was heavily pushed. Personally I think the character got blacklisted by fans for several years, until Stitch resurfaced in Tokyo Disneyland

The ride was demoted to seasonal on October 2nd 2016, and the attraction was last opened on January 8th, 2018.

-Rivers of Light was originally concieved as a Steve Davison nighttime parade for the Animal Kingdom in the mid 2000s. The idea was later revised and announced as a water show in 2013. The show was set to premiere in 2016, but was delayed a entire year until 2017. In 2 years the show was retooled with animated characters added.

Is it stating the obvious to speculate that the Chester and Hester stuff might be on the way out? It doesn't seem to be a particularly popular area/concept to begin with (based on what I've read, and the presumption that Donald's Dino Bash was meant use characters to get more people to a quiet section), and now this.

Previous to Stitch, Alien Encounter was a great attraction. People didn't know what they were getting into. A dark and loud attraction where a very scary alien escapes into the room. I would buy a soda and sit outside the show and watch the screaming and crying kids and parents come running out of the building. Good times!

Its possible. They could swap it out with a Mini Zootopia area, similar to Shanghai's future's mini-land
