  • After the "Spirit of Aloha" it was long time back.

We just got back from WDW - first time trip. Here are a few issues we ran across.
We stayed at POR and did the 8 pm " Spirit of Aloha" show on a Wednesday. By the time the show let out and we walked to Polynesian bus stop it was 10:30 pm. The only way I could figure to get back was to go to DTD and transfer to another bus back to POR. No late park hours anywhere else.
The buses were fewer and they were only using one of 3 bus stops at the DTD.
Everyone is trying to do the same thing - so - less buses, many people plus when there is wheelchair or a scooter to load it takes a pretty long time for the driver to strap each one down. It was almost midnight by the time we got back room. Now this seems like a blatant problem to me.
Did I miss another way to get back? Shouldn't bus system still be running full steam at late night or did I have an "exceptional experience?

What time did the MK let out? And generally, after a certain amount of time, the transportation does stop except to/from Downtown Disney. There are boats from Downtown Disney to POR, I'm not sure what time those stop.

The MK was closed by 9pm.

Generally, transportation from the parks is done by about 90 minutes after park close. So really, your best bet probably was the bus to Downtown Disney. I would have taken a water taxi if available at that time. (I don't like the Disney buses for the most part).

Oh, and we looked into the boat but the last run was supposedly at 11:30 ( no one seemed to know and I couldn't find it on the DDT map/info) and we didn't get to DDT in time to run and find the boat ramp. That place is big! Someone familiar with the routine there offered to run us down to the boat but they didn't think we would catch one.

That is too bad the boat ended that early. The buses probably were your only option, besides a taxi.

Yes, you should have rented a car and made your life easier.

This is WDW, and things are done to their convenience. Not yours.

Though after Dinner Shows, and other things that let out late like that. A lot of times you can ask a Bus Driver very nicely about how to get to Port Orleans, and a lot of times (not all the time) they will make a special stop or they will get a special bus called to transport you. (that is after normal transporation has ended)

I have experienced this after Hoop Dee Doo and Spirit of Aloha.

Buses actually pick guests up after the Hoop De Doo to go back to their resorts. Not sure why that isn't the cake with SOA.

I was going to mention that I had a special bus ride after the MVMCP - I left my car at Epcot, and I didn't realize the Epcot monorail would stop. The MGM bus driver took me there, but he said that if someone asked him for a resort, he'd take them as well. So it was sort of like a bus taxi.

I have also had the experience of being late and needing a ride elsewhere. Asking is the best bet, they will either put you on a bus that takes you there or put you in one of those vans.

Ya SummerinFl! I have only had great experiences when dealing with Disney Transportation as en entire department.

When I was in management, they always accomidated my crazy guest requests, and when I have been a guest they have always been very accomidating.

But that being said, always ask nicely and bat your eyes!
