The Monorail glides effortlessly out of the concourse and continues towards the Magic Kingdom.

The ride glides to a halt and the doors open up to expose us to the muggy atmosphere that is Orlando. The overcrowded car empties into the depot, and people hurry on their way to their pre-chosen destinations.
Finally, the car is empty, except for my wife, son, and I.

Do NOT pull down on the safety bar, please...I will lower it for you...

Love it! I always say" I'm home" when we enter the MK. I loved when we stayed at the AKL this last time and saw this....

I have to let you know that this made me cry. When we go to DLR and get close to it my hubby always says it feels like home. Like it is where we belong. My kids are Girl 19, Boy 16, and Girl 7 and all are Disney fans. My son carried a stuffed Mickey last time we went and it is now in his bed. He says that he can relax and be himself at Disneyland. He is a big football fan and a real macho guy but the mouse makes him a kid again. Hey it makes all of us kids again. Thanks for the great read.

Re: I wrote this a few years ago...enjoy!

                Thanks guys!

I wrote this when my wife was very pregnant, after we returned from a WDW trip. This was exactly the way I felt.

I knew I was going to have a good time, but it was hard to let go of everything with the surroundings and how overwhelming they can be (not always in the good sense), and everything that I needed to let go of at home.

It wasn't until shortly after this trip that we found out that our son was almost 100% deaf. His ears were very, very bad. It tore our hearts out to think that he had heard hardly anything at all on any of our trips to Disney, aside from what we told him on a daily basis.

He's had some surgeries, and his hearing is now nearly 100%! We went to DL last May, and he loved it!

We JUST bought our tickets to WDW for this end of May-June, and it will be his first REAL time being able to hear down there!

My wife gave birth to a baby girl not long after I wrote this. She has now been to WDW and DL, but she is 2 years old. It will basically be her first time down there again.

They keep asking to go to teh Castle every morning, so we're going to take them there and enjoy the time we have with them.

Seeing Disney from a child's eyes makes the whole trip THAT much more enjoyable. I wouldn't have it any other way, despite what some people on here say about kids in the parks.

I've thought about writing anohter installment to the story, but this one just seems so natural and perfect the way it is. I don't want to detract from it at all.

Thanks for the kind words! If I write something else, I'll definitely post it on here!

That was such a beautiful story... thank you so much for sharing it with us. Stories like this and the positive, happy threads that follow are what keep me coming back to MiceChat. Glad to read that your son is able to fully experience WDW and that your daughter will too.

                  Thanks again!

I am relating to you and your son. My daughter is 7 and when she was 5 we were told that she is slowly going deaf. She now wears hearing aids. When she just got the hearing aids and was afraid to use the sign langage she had learned we went to DL. The first person we saw in the park was Cinderella. Cinderella saw my daughter and got down to her level and started talking to her in sign language. We were all surprised. I started crying cause I knew what an impact that would make on my little girl's life. The fact that Cinderella used sign language meant that she could too. Cinderella treated her with extra love and care. A memory that I will never forget. We have been back alot since but she always remembers that Cinderella knew how to sign.
