  • Where in the (Disney) World?

This is a fun game. First, someone posts a picture. The idea is that it's close up enough that the location is not given away, but still wide enough to make it possible to guess where the photo was taken. Got it? No? Here's an example:

This is a pretty close up shot, however the gold and white colors might tip you off that it is really:

This picture of Maroon 5 (even though only 4 of them are in the shot) off the Disneyland Press site. (http://www.dlrnews.com)

Please post pictures only from the Walt Disney World Resort, I am starting threads in all 4 Resort Fourums, so post images of other resorts there.

Also, the photos must have been taken within a Disney Park, no photos of hotels or Downtown Disney please. And please, try not to make your photos too hard?

    Got it?

    Have fun!

OK, I'll give it a shot. I've got a few vacation photos that lent themselves to being cropped... This is my first photo link, so here's hoping it works...
I've got a few lined up, so I'll start with a (hopefully) easy one.

Where in WDW is this from?

        Yup.

Here's another one, also fairly easy:

It is the Swan (although it could be the Dolphin).

You got it. (I think the Dolphin's color scheme has leaves, and not waves)

Ready for the next one? I think it'll be a little easier, Planet 7. ;-)

Doh! That's what got me. The funny thing is, my first thought was the Swolphin (they're one and the same to me), but I thought they both had the banana-leaf print.

Here's an interesting/horrifying tidbit: back in the late 80's when the Swolphin was being built, I was backstage in FutureWorld, and saw them painting this huge, garish banana-leaf print on the back of the Norway pavilion. I was absolutely baffled as to why. If you've ever seen backstage (which you now can thanks to Test Track, and I think it's very Bad Show) you know that past the facades, most of the buildings--particularly World Showcase--are just nonscript "boxes". They don't decorate surfaces that the guests can't see. I finally asked someone why they were doing that, and they told me that it was a test for the Swolphin. If you heard a horrified shrieking "NOOOOOO!!" coming from Central Florida around that time, uh, that was me.

This may be a tough one, despite its size, though if you look very closely, there is a very telltale clue.

I'm stumped. At first, it looked like either from OKW or Boardwalk, but then theres that slanted walkway that seems to end. I have no clue.

Well, the clue is the rolling drum kit to the right. To me, this suggests the Future Corp group in Epcot, but possibly one of the incarnations of the groups in Tomorrowland (though I think their drum set is more on a platform with the drummer sitting, rather than standing like this one would be)
Those lights on poles are throwing me off, too.

So my first guess is somewhere in Future World, but I'm having trouble pinpointing the exact location.

If it is Tomorrowland, I'd say down in the area down under/behind the old SKyway station, where the now-closed Ursa's Major-Minor Mart was.

After showing it to a friend, she is convinced it's the walkway around the old Horizons building, and I think I agree with her.

So I at least had the "somewhere in Future World" right. ;-)

Kudos to you and your friend! That was a pretty tough one! Btw, the "clue" I was going for--which may have been too difficult to make out--was the monorail beam in the distance. As you may recall, it ran right in front of Horizons.

Here's the full pic (I had to reduce down by two-thirds, as the orignal is quite large; it's a little less detailed as a result, but you get the idea).

But, we ARE sticking to Club 33's original request, yes?

I am. This is from one of the four major parks on the WDW property.

Thanks, Planet7. That Swolphin had me stumped!

Anyway, is that a sidewalk, or floor pattern?
