Everest!!!!! I HATE HATE HATE the mummy ride. The second time I rode it, it jerked my neck and seriously hurt it. I couldn't turn my head for the rest of our trip.

Dude, that's like comparing apples to oranges.

I am sure I will get flamed for this, but as much as I like Everest, I really do enjoy the mummy. It has great special effects, and a very cool twist to the standard Indy/Dinosaur ride vehicle...

While they both have similar elements, I can't choose a favorite.

I love the Yeti itself as just an amazing feat of technology, but i also love the effects on the Mummy, especially the flames on the ceiling directly above you...every time both of those effects impress me.

The mummy does have very abrupt braking in a few spots, which I've gotten used to.

I'm not sure if that's really an accurate comparison. It would be better to compare very similar attractions such as Kali River Rapids vs. Grizzly River Run (just for an example). Since this is a Disney message board, I'm willing to bet Expedition Everest will win though

I will say that I find the backwards segment of The Mummy: The Ride to be a little gimmicky. It just feels more like it was added to be first to the punch than as something designed to be there from the start.

Actually, after seeing the size of the area they had to work with and the layout, it was almost necessary to do the ride the way they did it.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Still, the most pure coaster fun in O-Town.
Then would come Kraken ... best overall thrilling coaster in O-Town.

But since you asked a different question ... Everest. Not even close.

Mummy is a much more engaging experience than Everest. It's a true coaster/dark ride hybrid. Besides the coaster element, Everest just has one AA, a projection and a bird on a stick.

The line for the Mummy is much better than the line for Everest in the heat of the summer - oh, air conditioning, bless you. That and no fast pass aside from the Universal Express means the line moves quicker, at least to me.

When I'm at Universal, I like the Mummy - when I'm at Disney, I like Everest.

They really are different experiences that I don't think you can really compare. I like each of them for their own reasons. I actually did both of them this past week, and in reflection, I wouldn't choose one over the other.

Re: Expedition Everest vs. Revenge of the Mummy

Having experienced both for the first time during our trip last September, I can tell you that both were fresh and exciting rides for me.

As a concept, I think Everest is cooler- only because it's basically a roid-raging Matterhorn, and I totally dig that. In execution, I'm behind the Mummy all the way. More effects, better use of the ride technology, and just plain more exciting.

That said, we did a quick last half-day at USO, and hit the Mummy once. We had multi-day parkhoppers to Disney, did 2 brief, but hours long visits to AK, and hit Everest 4 times total.
I'm making a note here: HUGE SUCCESS.

I don't think they can be compared either. They both have coaster elements but they're really different. The good thing, they're both amazing rides and we're lucky to have both of them.
