We went to Universal Orlando August 7 through August 9. We decided to stay at the Royal Pacific resort for 2 reasons. You get free Express Passes for the length for your stay for the parks and I got a great Florida resident rate. Considering the Express Passes can run up to $50 per person per day depending on season and crowds, this was a really good deal.
We arrived about 11AM.
Parking at the resort is $15 per day for self parking and $22 for valet. We decided to have them valet our car and got bell service to check our bags since we were going straight to one of the parks after checking in.
We proceeded to the lobby down the covered walkway which was lined with frogs playing musical instruments.
Murals on the wall behind the desk.
We were pleased to find our room ready and the girls received gifts. They each got their own travel size Doodle Pro drawing board.
The bellmen are very attentive. Instead of them all just hanging around the bell service desk, they stand across from the check-in desk waiting to be summoned by the check-in staff unlike other resorts where they just give you a ticket and tell you to go to the bell stand, here the bellmen come to you. We proceeded to our room on the 6th floor.
Standard room with 2 queen size beds.
Ipod compatible alarm clock.
Nice assortment of Emeril coffees and tea with condiments and carry-out cups.
Our view....this room was considered a non-view room but I preferred it to a water view room. I liked being able to see the coasters and hearing the Hulk start up in the morning. At night we could see the fireworks from the night-time show at Universal Studios over the tops of the trees.
The hotel has an Asian islands Balinese theme and feel. There were lots of these umbrella stands through out the resort. They added a bit of color.
Staircase in the lobby
Light fixture above the stairs
In the center of the lobby is the Orchid Court, a beautiful fountain and garden.
On the other side of the Orchid Court is the Orchid Court lounge which has a sushi bar nightly starting at 5PM.
On the ground level there is a walkway around the entire hotel with lots of little and big decorative touches.
One of the 2 gift shops.
The hallway leading to Emeril's Tchoup Chop and the Pacifica ballroom.
Walkway leading to the water taxi that goes to City Walk.
Main entrance to the pool.
You can play billiards, ping pong and volleyball out by the pool.
Chilled water with lemon is available poolside.
Zero entry side of the pool.
If I had any complaints at all about the resort it would be this area. After being in the pool and you're wet, you have to walk back through all this sand to get to your stuff and then walk back to your room with your feet and the back of your legs covered in sand. I know it's all part of the island themeing but I would prefer more chairs on the pavement but this is the largest concentration of chairs. Hate the sand.
The walkway to the parks is nicely manicured with tropical plants that offer some shade on the walk and they're just pretty to look at. It takes about 10 minutes to get to IOA and 15minutes to US.
All in all I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. I am looking forward to planning a longer stay in the future to take advantage of the resort further. We ate at one of the restaurants at the hotel as well and the review for that is here.
