...where would you dream of staying in Orlando and why? Looking for deluxe/villa and/or suite accommodations at other hotels. Planning on making my first trip next year.

Either the Poly or the Boardwalk. My family loved the Boardwalk, I really enjoyed it too but I truly fell in love with the Poly.

We stayed in a deluxe club level room at the Boardwalk for most of my stay in June and the location is just absolutely fabulous. The deluxe rooms are larger than the regular two queen bed club room. There's a sitting area with a second tv, queen sized sleeper sofa right before the balcony. Our room overlooked the Boardwalk and it was gorgeous at night all lit up and pretty. The Boardwalk was a pretty fantastic hotel and the conceirege staff there can't be beat. And again, the location was just fantastic. We spent a lot of time in Epcot and just being able to walk over there was the best. We never experienced any bus problems sharing with the other resorts either, they were quick and never overly packed. I'd stay there again no problem.

The other portion of my trip I stayed at the Poly in a lagoon view room. It was gorgeous. Absolutely wonderful. It's my favorite resort and if the choice was solely up to me I'd stay at the Poly in a lagoon or MK room every single trip. The service was great there too, I loved the closeness of the MK and one of my favorite trip moments was watching the fireworks from our balcony with my youngest.

The Grand Floridian, The Poly, or a room in the contemporary overlooking the monorail track (I don't know why, I just always wanted to stay there and see that just outside my door).

Last year we stayed at the Contemporary and also at the Wilderness Lodge (and also at the Dolphin and at the Buena Vista Palace)

The Contemporary has nice large rooms with great views from the front door of the Monorail, or from the balcony of the lake or of the Magic Kingdom. The Wilderness Lodge has a fantastic main lounge area, it's just gorgeous and the grounds are lovely too, a nice quiet area to take a walk.

Thanks for all the replies! These are the exact three hotels we're deciding amongst (Contemporary, Poly and Wilderness) -- so you guys are right on track for our tastes! Here's the thing -- we love tiki/polynesian decor, BUT I think my head would explode if I'm exposed to Lilo & Stitch too much. Can someone who's stayed there tell me if the place is dripping in L&S, which if it is we will avoid it -- we're tending toward the other two (always wanted to stay at CR and love the Grand Cal in CA that the Wilderness Lodge is right up our alley...) - but if the Poly isn't overly Stitched out, that's still in the running.

It is definately NOT over-Stitched. It is a lovely resort.

I would opt for the Wilderness...I think you get more bang for your buck.

And, if you like the Grand Cali, I personally think the Wilderness Lodge is nicer!

The Polynesian is nice, but without a deal it's way too much IMO.

If money were no object... The Grand Floridian!!

It is no contest: The Grand Floridian... my favorite WDW resort and the most sumptuous in terms of luxury accommodations. I don't think the location can be beat, and the hotel is a real gem in the WDW resort family. I had the joy of staying there once (in 2004), and my dream WDW vacation would be suite at the GF. Trivia tidbit: the only compensation that Jennings Osborne gets for the "Osborne Family Festival of Lights" at DHS every year is a suite at the Grand Floridian for a week every holiday season. He brings his entire family and pays for the extra rooms!

Also, the Walt Disney Co. no longer has a monopoly on super deluxe luxury accommodations in Orlando... the new Waldof=Astoria Orlando resort just opened last year in the Bonnet Creek area of WDW property. It is supposed to be fabulous, and I think you get more "bang for your buck" in terms of comparable rates than you would at Deluxe WDW resorts.

Definitly! But dont forget to mention you want the animal viewing side!

But with all honestly, if money were no option I would love to try ALL the Disney hotels and ALL the Universal-Loews hotels.

I would also love to try the Disney Swan and Dolphin overlooking the lake!

Bay Lake Tower is the closest and a 5 minute walk to MK. We stayed in a 3 Br grand villa in january and were amazed by the size (approx 2100 square feet). the place is brand new, extremely clean and very quiet. The building is connected by a skywalk to the Contemporary so you are able to have all the necessities of a full service hotel with restaurants, game room, snack shop and anything else you need steps away without ever waiting for the crowd to diminish to use the elevator, pool or anything else. If you are looking for peace and quiet during your downtime this is the best place. If you are looking for a 5 star experience do the Grand Floridian it is just that Grand, elegant and the restaurants are superb. If you like Theming then the Polynesian is ver nice and i have heard the Wilderness Lodge is cool also. If you like to cocktail then the Boardwalk and the Yacht and Beach Club are a short walk to Epcot and you enter right near France and England.
