  • [Question] Off-property hotel. Any suggestions?

    Hi,
my partner and I are planning our first trip to Walt Disney World in May 2010. Since we're quite on budget and are planning to spend all our vacation in WDW (with maybe two one day trips to Celebration and Winter Park) we were thinking about one of the hotels on Lake Buena Vista Drive or the Radisson close to Crossroads. Keep in mind that we would like to be able to go to Downtown Disney by foot. We were settling on Regal Sun Resort or Buena Vista Palace, or Radisson at Apopka wich all got very good reviews on tripadvisor.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,

If you're looking to walk to Downtown, I do suggest staying on the "Disney" side of Hotel Blvd - the traffic on Lake Buena Vista can be less than attentive to pedestrians.

      Hi SkittleKicks,
Do you mean the Saratoga Spring Resort and the Port Orleans? They look quote expensive to me compared to the ones on Hotel Plaza Blvd...

Hotel Plaza Blvd is fine - easy walk from there!

I've stayed at the Regal Sun Resort when it was called the Grosvenor and I liked it. Stayed there 3 or 4 times and never had problems & the staff was always nice.

Other hotels I've stayed at on Hotel Plaza Blvd are the Hilton and the Royal Plaza. LOVED the Royal Plaza. Stayed in a deluxe king room (got a great deal thru hotels.com) and it was awesome. I wanted to take the bathroom home with me (had a big Roman tub & a separate shower stall, granite countertop... you get the idea).

The Holiday Inn just reopened after a multi-year rennovation (they got heavily damaged when Hurricane Charley blew through).

The Raddison over on 535/Apopka Vineland next to the Crossroads isn't bad. I stayed there back in 2000 when it was a Days Inn and it was quite nice.
