UPGRADE

The forums will be upgraded to the latest software version on 9/26/17 at 9:30pm PDT. The upgrade should only take a few minutes. During the upgrade you might experience errors, but they will go away once the upgrade is completed. This is not the upgrade/move we have been discussing for the past few months. This is just normal, minor maintenance. Thank you.

  • News Virgin America starting service to MCO!

For Californians, there will soon be a new option for flying to Orlando. I just got an email today from Virgin America:

There’s a new joyride coming to Orlando. Beginning August 19, you can fly from San Francisco or Los Angeles to Orlando with us and be just as entertained in the air as you will be on the ground. Whether you’re there for conferences or fireworks, nothing will set the mood better than WiFi, satellite TV, and great fares.

And just to be clear, fly from LA from only $149* and San Francisco from only $199*.
I've heard good things about them. The in flight entertainment is supposed to be really good. If I wasn't so committed to United, I might just give them a try! But, unfortunately for them, I'm a "one airline" kind of guy. )

Yup, that is my choice flying from JFK to LAX. Entertainment is great - free TV and games, moviesyou can buy, I think some tv you can buy too, mood lighting is cool, free snacks lol plus a power outlet at every seat! You can buy Internet too.

Hoping they will announce JFK to MCO soon!

And how I picked you up and everything changed

It's about $12-13 and lasts for the duration of the flight. I've used it many times from JFK to LAX and it makes the time go by so much faster!

Hoping for Orlando/JFK service soon too! My Virgin America Visa needs some miles....

It looks like the inflight WiFi is offered by Gogo; they just started offering service on United flights late last year. Unfortunately, on UA it's only offered on Premium Service flights from LAX/SFO to JFK. I only had the opportunity to use it once, but it was pretty cool!

The pricing is here (there are several options for what you need). Check the website before you fly; sometimes they offer promos with free/discount codes for the service. I "won" a code for a free session in a contest they ran the last couple months (I think everyone won). Also, I heard a rumor that the prices were going up soon to $14.95/flight. I hope it's not true since it is a fairly new service.

And for those economy class flyers, if it makes you feel any better... at least on UA First Class and Business Class passengers still have to pay the same fee. There are many complaints that a ticket that costs many thousands of $$ more than economy on the same plane does not even include free internet!

I would call the ME guest service at 866-599-0951 and ask them. I fly Spirit from Atlantic City and ME picks up your luggage from Orlando and delivers it to your room. This usually takes some time so we dress for whatever we have planned before we even go to the plane ride down and have a carry on packed with clothes for dinner in case it takes toooooo long. On the return trip we have to take our bags to the Spirit check in form the bus because Spirit does not participate in the service. My guess is that ME will take your bags on the arrival but you may have to check your bags on the return trip.
