  • [Question] When will the new Mexican place in Epcot be available for reservations?

We were thinking of eating there on our next trip, but it isn't on the reservation list. Anyone know when it will be open for reservations? Anyone know when its supposed to open period?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

      Isn't it Counter Service?

Isn't that what Be Our Guest is going to be as well?

Will this be the first restaurant to do that?

I believe this is a test of that for Be Our Quest, which is indeed also using this system apparently.

              Oooh. This is very exciting.

My family ate at Cantina in August and I liked it. I think Mexico might be my favorite pavilion.

According to the latest blog on the Disney Parks site, the Cantina (counter service) will open at 11am for lunch but apparently will also serve dinner. The La Hacienda part (full service) will be open for dinner only.

I assume they're doing Full Service dinner to make more money off of IllumiNations seating?

Exactly...I'm still waiting to see when they start taking ADRs. We're going Columbus Day weekend and were interested in trying it out, but they are apparently not taking them yet...

Looks like since this thread began they changed it to a quick service and table location? I remember a Disneyparks blog that seemed to imply 2 distinct locations, but forgot to post it here.

Yeah AllEars reported that one there will no longer be a flexible restaurant. One will serve counter-service all day; the other just table-service dinner. Seems a waste of lagoon space to have an empty restaurant all day when there's bound to be people needing tables next door.

I'm confused. How is this new place supposed to be? What will it look like? It's two outdoor restaurants?

I'm not sure anyone really knows now. It says the lunch portion is quick service, but table service opens for dinner...2 separate eateries.

                              Here's from allears:

-- The new restaurant in Epcot's Mexico pavilion, the 250-seat La Hacienda, will open daily for dinner ONLY at 4 p.m. (It was originally announced that the restaurant would serve both fast food at lunch and table service for dinner.) For starters, the menu will feature queso fundido (warm cheese with poblano pepper and chorizo); a taco trio with rib eye, roasted chicken and pork; and traditional black bean soup. Entrees will include a mixed grill for two with flank steak, chicken, chorizo and vegetables (a seafood version features grouper, shrimp and scallops); roasted shrimp in pepper garlic broth; flank steak with spring onions, refried beans and cactus leaves; and grilled red snapper with roasted corn and cactus leaves. Desserts will include chocolate churros, sweet tamales and fruit empanadas. The other Mexico restaurant on the promenade, La Cantina, will be open daily at 11 a.m. and will have 150 outdoor seats. The new La Cantina menu will offer chicken and beef tacos on fresh handmade corn tortillas, nachos, a cheese empanada, guacamole and chips and churros.
