  • [Question] Getting from WDW to Universal Studios

Hi! This is my first thread in this forum and I'm so embarrassed and anxious as always.

My family is planning a WDW vacation for January 2014 and my brother and I are dedicated on spending one day of our trip at Islands of Adventure just to see the Harry Potter attractions.

We're staying at the Pop Century hotel, and were wondering the fastest/most cost-effective way to get there from the resort!

Should we rent a car? Get a taxi? Hitchhike?

A taxi would be at least $60 round trip in fares. A rental car would be cheaper. You could rent one directly on WDW property (there's an Alamo by the car care center/Hess gas station by the Magic Kingdom and another at the Dolphin hotel). Would probably be $20-30 for the day... much cheaper than a cab.

Can you be more precise: Universal Studios Florida, or Universal Studios Hollywood?

The cheapest option is to buy a ticket/transportation package. You pretty much get the transport thrown in for the cost of the park ticket. The downside is you are on the buses schedule.

It's all done by Mears Transportation, you can book directly through them. You may find the deal through a number of sources which is fine, but still take their buses.

Thank you all so much for your help! We ended up getting a taxi (which was about $40 each way including the tip) and had so much fun. I already can't wait to go back!
