I'm hoping someone out there can help me. We just adopted a kitten for our daughter. Today, I left him in the house by himself for the first time.....and he peed on my couch! Our couch is made out of that microsuade....or whatever it is. Tan color. I have used to dry cleaner stuff the furniture store gives you, and it removed it for the most part...but, there's still a ring, and smell. Is there anything else I can do???

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
We have the same fabric on our couch. My mom just uses good ole' stain and odor removal. There are lots of them out there including the ones Adelade suggested. Our dog has went on the couch many times. We just use the spray and it hasn't done any harm. It works for dogs and cats. Good luck.♥ "Don't care about all the pain in front of me'Cause I'm just trying to be happy." ♥

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
Welcome to my world. My Kitty has basically ruined my sofas - and they're leather, but the urine seeped though to the insides and it stinks whenever I sit on it. I've used something called "anti icky poo," but the one that sort of works best is a product from Woolite.
Good luck with the new kitty.

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
Add me to the list of ruined leather furniture. My sacrifice was a leather recliner. We use an enzyme based product. It kind of works, but on occasion you can still smell it.
As brusquely as Onut put it, it really is the only way to ensure you aren't going to get your furniture ruined.

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
The urine is now deep in the stuffing and foam core of the couch. It will be almost impossible to get it all out. Sorry. We've had two couches and a recliner ruined because of this.
Our solution to preventing this problem is the Scat Mat

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
thank you all. I don't think it got too far into the actual cushion.....I think it mainly stayed on the micro fiber. I am trying and trying to get it out. Will probably go to Petsmart and see what they have...
And Onut...trust me...I thought about what you said. But, it's for my daughter. Guess I have to suck it up.

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
My ex-roommates cat would constantly pee on the carpet just outside the litterbox. I have no idea what her problem was because the boxes were cleaned every other day... and we had 3 boxes! Her other cat and my cat always used the boxes. But as a result of that one, the livingroom smelled like rancid cat pee even though I bought jugs of stain & smell remover. I do not miss that cat.

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
I see where Adelade and Pretzel mentioned Nature's Miracle...that's actually what we bought. We went to PetSmart...and the receptionist from the vet office in there recommended it highly...so, here's hoping. (fingers crossed)

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
wow, after reading this I'm glad my male cat (may he rip) never peed on the furniture. he didn't hesitate to pee on anything else though. He even jumped onto the top of the refrigerator once and sprayed down the cabinets. Using a black light in the spare bedroom was scary......

Re: Help!!!! Removing cat urine!
Tell us how well it works!
I have cats too. One was tagging the same area on the couch over and over. After cleaning it thoroughly, we bought a piece of plastic carpet runner the same length of the couch and kept it on the couch when we weren't sitting on it with the pokey side up. This discouraged the cats from even sitting on the couch!!! Which was great with me!
The problem stopped immediately and we haven't had any issues since!
Good luck.A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes....
