  • Farrell's to return to SoCal!!!!

This is in relation to the thought of a Farrell's being in DCA thread http://micechat.com/forums/showthrea...dca-97406.html

On 08/26/08, Parlour Enterprises was awarded all the rights associated with the Farrell's name after a lengthy court battle (Parlour Enterprises vs. Kirin Group). Parlour Enterprises is now sole owner of the Farrell's name and rights.

We all have memories of going to Farrell's. I have fond memories of the location at Sherman Way and Van Nuys in Van Nuys as well as the one at Reseda and Devonshire in Northridge.

The owner, Mike Fleming, is someone I work for. I know he would love to hear from all you Farrell's fans on thoughts for the re-opening of Farrell's locations throught SoCal and elsewhere. Please e-mail him at the following:

"And yes, we implore EVERYBODY to follow the park rules. Having off-ride footage is great, but any still photo's or video's taken ON the coasters at SFMM are strictly against the rules. They are there for your (and everybody's) safety." "Six Flags doesn't allow ANY loose articles on their coasters, and they don't allow video taping on their coasters. " BUT, " This is not true. Six Flags does not allow ANY On-Ride video or pictures on the rides. The ONLY way is if you get explicit permission from Park Management." ???

That's awesome. I went to the one in the Tyler Mall parking lot in Riverside as a kid. LOVED that place.

I worked at one in Florida when I was 18. I have very nice memories of Farrells from my teenage years.

I used to go to the one on Beach Blvd in Huntington Beach all the time when I was a kid. I had a birthday party there. And my brother ate the trough!

The big drum and having the workers sing Happy Birthday is all I remember from my 10th b-day

The one in Downey was the first to "tone down" the noise and excitement. It was the beginning of the end for the chain. At that time they were becoming more of a restaurant and less of an icecream parlor. Don't know why they ever closed their doors, but there is always room in the market for "fun" places for the whole family.

The return of Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor

From Fast Food Maven, OC Register:

                November 9th, 2008, 9:30 am
                http://fastfood.freedomblogging.com/...arrells_bw.jpg

Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour is planning a major California comeback.

A series of operational blunders and legal tussles led to the closure of more than 100 Farrell’s in the United States years ago. A Santa Clarita parlor is the only Farrell’s left in California.
But, now, the Orange County firm that owns the Farrell’s brand trademark said it plans to grow the beloved ice cream parlour concept, again. The expansion will focus in Southern California with the next one launching in central or south Orange County, said Paul Kramer, president of Parlour Enterprises in Laguna Niguel.

There's a couple other threads already about this.

TacAlert posted about this first. I didn't see it and started a thread also and so a mod merged our threads probably around the same time that O-Nut referenced this thread

Re: Farrell's to return to SoCal!!!!

Yay for Farrell's!!! I look forward to celebrating my kids' birthdays there in the future. We went to the one in Santa Clarita that is part of Mountasia, but it wasn't the same as the Farrell's that I remember going to as a kid.

I celebrated many-a-times at the Farrell's in Van Nuys. Wasn't there one in Woodland Hills just off Ventura? I want to say that it was on DeSoto.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

There was one on DeSOto north of Ventura.

Farrell's is returning to Orange County next year. See a post I put in the Southern Ca Restaurant link under DL Resort. Concept art included for the new location.

                              It was actually Canoga.

There is a Burger King in it's spot now.

                              Talk about a downgrade.
