  • True & Interesting Walt Disney facts.

Walt was born in Chicago in 1901.

when Walt was 17 in 1918, WWI broke out and he really wanted to be a Red Cross ambulance driver in France. But he had to be 18 to do that. Luckily Walts birth certificate was written in pencil so he changed his birthdate from 1901 to 1900 and applied for the Red Cross. They of course accepted him thinking that he was 18.

While driving ambulances in France, he took up smoking and drawing on the ambulance itself.

I have more facts that I will post later. You can also pitch in and post any facts you find interesting about Walt.

Walt Disney once ate an entire T-Bone steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans in less than 3 minutes.

Actually that's not true...OR IS IT?
    What an idiot....

Yeah, I do that Twitter thing.

You're sort of right about that. After walt and Roy opened up their studios in LA, Walt bought his mother a house. but I believe gas fumes got out of a broken pipe and his mother unknowingly inhaled the fumes. Roy Disney, Walts nephew discovered her body the next day.

Walt was also the first person to use television for advertising his feature length films. At the time, Hollywood stayed away from television fearing that it would make people want to stay home rather than go to the movies.

Walt was also one of the first to capitalize on colored television shows. He even shot shows in color before televisions were able to transmit color other than black and white.
