I have a question about the outage today. When the boards came back up after being down, I discovered my avatar had changed from my most recent Annette avatar back to my Walley World avatar that preceeded Annette.

It's from a Rush song - it means the more things change, the more they stay the same... kinda like DLR...

a table is a file that stores information in a database. looks like the table that stores the signature and avatar info got wacked somehow.. I think it happened about 10PM last night - It got me in mid post.

They seem to have jumped right on it.

They had to restore the forum to an earlier backup for a chunk of the stuff missing.. you might have been part of that update?? (how many bits were missing.. Were you trying to hack the boards.. cause i know that happends when you hack sometimes...)

I sure did. I kept checking the baord evry 10 mins and then I just went to bed.

Me too. cept I worked untill 1:00am and so by the time I got home and got setteled on the comp. it was already down.

Say... Why is forum cesored in the titles now??

I had a good joke there.. and it censored forum... is this related to a hack or upgrade the admins did.... (whihc went wrong.)

Basically, this is what happened:

There was an idea to move the Ask Al forum up to the MiceChat Columnists parent forum. I moved the forum but due to a bug in vB3, the forum disappeared, then it reappeared again but as a completely new forum w/ no posts. Monorail Man restored the old forum from a backup copy but could not do so w/o merging both the old backup & the newer one he ran last night, so both were merged. Now everything is fine, I think.

That's the short story of what happened.

Well, it did move. The problem was all of the threads inside it were automatically deleted.

I don't know. I'm still trying to figure out what your talking about.

He's trying to use the word "forum" in his status line but it's being censored by our word filter.

I'll discuss this with the others before changing it myself.
