  • Return of the Santa Ana winds/Wildfires (merged)

You know autumn in SoCal has arrived when you go to bed one night and its in the mid 60's outside, then you wake up the next day to high winds and temps in the 80's at 7am!

Yes folks our beloved Santa Ana winds are back! Time for dry lips, itchy scaley skin that makes you feel like a walking case of dandruff, dry noses that cause nosebleeds willy nilly, leafs and other assorted "things" flying wildly by as you drive down the street, and that ever present Santa Ana wind enduced weirdness people seem to get.

    Welcome to autumn!!

Huh... I haven't seen the winds much.... yet.

I hate the Santa Anas. Not only are they hot (which I hate), but they send my allergies through the roof. I become one miserable, groggy, leaky mess for days on end. Stupid winds...

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

      Yuck.
      Thanks for the warning.
High winds was one reason I left colorado.
Yay for not being able the breathe. *grumble*
      Good morning, son
      In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
      It was pain
      Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I had to duck falling tree branches walking to my office from the parking lot today and my arms were all dry and itchy. The dry hot air reminds me why I left phoenix four years ago.

Where my mom lives (down from the cajon pass), the wind always became a giant windtunnel there. Every tree in the neighborhood only has branches on one side, and you never have to rake leaves, they always just blow away. There's nothing like walking to school in a wind that 100 mph sometimes. THANK heveans I don't live there anymore. It was horrid for everything.

PLEASE.... I'm in Utah. Do you know how Utah was founded?

In the late 1800's Mormon pioneers had been driven out of Missouri and were going as hard as they could to get to California. They stopped one day and said. "We shall continue on as soon as the winds die down."

They have been here ever since.

Haven't gotten the winds yet here, but the weather was way warm and dry when I woke up this morning. My nose feels all funny too.

You guys should find a way to break wind - err, I mean break those winds, or, well, you know what I mean!

Great day here in the valley of the sun, no wind, about 90 and dry - really nice.

Well there's a lovely fire about 5 miles from my house (the Chatsworth fire). I can see the flames from my front windows. LOVELY! I'm ok as is my area, the fire is in the hills and moving southwesterly so I'm not even getting smoke (thank GOD). It's still a little disheartening to see the flames like I did 2 years ago like that.
