  • Warning to people planning on going to the beach this week

    Hello all.

This is just a warning to all you locals and Disneyland tourists out there who may be planning a trip to the beach this week.

The Orange County Register is reporting that a storm that began in Tahiti will generate powerful waves and dangerous rip tides at Orange County's beaches from Thursday through Saturday, posing hazards to swimmers, some surfers, boaters, and people who fish from local jetties.

The weather will be beautiful of course. But I advise not going in the water if at all possible.

If you do swim and get caught in a rip tide, let the current take you out past the breaking waves and swim parallel to the shore until the current is no longer pushing you out. Sometimes you can see rip tides which are characterized by patches of sandy brown, choppy waters. If you see this especially do not go into the water.

Just thought I'd let you all know.

Guess it's time to bust out the bodyboard and hit the surf.

I'm not a beach person, but even if I did go, I wouldn't get in the water. I refuse to smell like a dead fish.

*giggle* that's what I was thinking.

Seriously, I've been caught in a rip tide while swimming at Huntington Beach. Not fun. Thankfully a life guard came to my rescue.

Thanks for the info David. I love the beach.

it's all over the news too,. They even said don't go body surfing due to the waves are large, but it's very shallow still. I know it's harsh, but people will be idiots and sometimes bad things happen to people who don't think.
