  • Help me survive a lower back strain!

I recently tweaked my back playing hockey about a month ago. After avoiding the doctors office, I finally went and she told me I have a lower back strain. Nothing too serous but that I shouldn't do anything too strenuous for about a month.

Although this cut my hockey season short, it gives me ample time to rest up for Halloween Haunt, this year.

Aside from the meds she Rx'd me, and the heat packs I have, does anyone have any advice or remedies to quicken the healing time for a strained back? I'm hoping to be 100% by September 24th (opening night of Halloween Haunt). Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Would massages help that or make it worse?

Ask a pharmacy for a ben gay product that is EXTRA strong. It'll burn like hell the first couple of nights but it's ideal to put on right before you go to bed. It worked wonders for me when I did the same thing.

          ^^^^^

I prefer a Physical Therapist, but whatever works...

Back strains take time to heal.

The Haunt should be no problem though. Especially under the influence of pain pills!!!

          Good luck!

Are you staying over night? If so Target right now has Memory Foam for $20. I took one last time and slept on top of it and it helped my bad back on the not so good bed.

I'm actually scheduling one in the near future so I hope so.

If it still hurts within a month, I'll either go back to the doctor or see a chiropractor. I'm hoping I wont have to, though.

lay flat on your back and slow bring your knees up to your chest one at a time, only stretch as far as your back will tolerate and do it really slowly to really stretch out the back muscles....that's one of the best exercises Dustin uses when his back is really acting up

alternate between the left and right for maybe 10 reps...its really going to depend on how bad your strain is..if it starts to feel uncomfortable stop

                    hope you feel better soon

I'm not sure emboldening a Haunt cast member with prescription drugs is a good idea!

I've seen plenty of CM's that acted like they were under the influence of something! :lmao:

And I didn't see anything that indicated the OP was a CM.

I'll be there on opening night and I'm not one...
