  • Mice Chat on Facebook?

I know you can follow Mice Chat on twitter but i was wondering of there had been any fan pages published on Facebook, either by members or by the wonderful people at Mice Chat.

I think i would be a great place for us all to meet and become friends.

I know Mice Chat has its own version of making friends and staying in touch but think of all the other Disney fans around the world that are not members of this fantastic site.

I would try and create one myself but unfortunately i am not that much of a wizz with my computer.

I pick and choose my Disney friends on Facebook. I don't have that luxury here. For my daily Disney fix, Facebook doesn't hold a candle to MiceChat, period.

There's a MiceChatters group, but it doesn't have much activity. MiceChatters | Facebook

You can send a friend request to Dusty, he posts when there's an update on Miceage. Dusty Sage | Facebook

You can send a friend request to Kevin Yee, who posts a regular "Where in WDW?" photo game. Kevin Yee | Facebook

In general, I don't see much point in using Facebook to connect with members of Micechat. Why use another website? What's the benefit?

Yeah, I like facebook a lot and it would be cool to have a Micechat group on facebook... but really, Dusty always posts awesome links and from those links I eventually end up here reading all the columns, updates, and topics and other stuff... I am really more of a reader on here than a poster anyways but I love facebook and I love Micechat so both are nice for eachother... it works nice having a few people I met from Micechat on my facebook and soe of those people are pretty awesome... so if anyone wants to add me on facebook, my link is below but make sure you just mention you are from Micechat so I can add you to my Micechat folder and accept the request!
Add me... I dont bite LOL!

          Re: Mice Chat on Facebook?

Why go to two places? If I want to find out about MiceChat, I go...to...MiceChat. What a concept! I don't have to tweet. or sing, or become anybody's friend, or fan, I just...go to MiceChat.

Must be too simple, I guess.

It's easier for me to access Facebook at work (since I'm in charge of my work's Facebook page). If I'm getting on MiceChat at work, it's usually through my phone.

It's a lot more fun to talk to friends on FB sometimes than on MC. Depends on what you're talking about too.

There are A LOT of things that I talk about with other MCers on Facebook, that I can't necessarily say or post on here. A conversation I had with Chad (aashee) is a good example.

hrmm... well for those who want to keep their personal life seperate - I wouldn't suggest FB mixing with Micechat.

For instance just browsing Dusty's friends - the observant can pick out dozens of Micechat personalities and then find out their real names, etc. Because of the friends lists visibility your identities are essentially shared with everyone.

Now I'm not shy of who I am - but I know some who are or would like to reserve that sharing to their discretion. But lets say you friend Dusty, and have posted a photo of what you look like on Micechat.. or someone else has... its easy enough to find you on Dusty's friends list. That kind of takes away that control some people like to keep.

But the point of Social Networking is to finding other people who you may know, or would like to get to know. If others have a problem with that, that's what the privacy settings are for.

I have no problem with sharing my name and photo with everyone BUT I hide my friend's list because I don't want complete strangers scoping through who I'm friends with. Even my friends can't go through my friends list, or my mutual friends list. Facebook is great with understanding that not everyone wants to share everything.

                          Re: Mice Chat on Facebook?

I didn't mean to downgrade FaceBook as much as I may have earlier.

I have an FB account, and have made contact with a lot of old friends and professional contacts having nothing to do with MC.

But being a 53-year old "analog guy still adjusting to the digital world" as I like to call myself, I'm not joined at the hip to a Blackberry.

"I-pod touch" still generally involves the making of fresh peas in my world.

I get my e-mail, when I remember to, from this very same desktop I am using right now.

So it's like I check Facebook about once a month, sometimes related to an e-mail alert.

Aside from readig news and sports and such on the net, this is my main stop on the information super highway.

And year after year, I'm sure there will be more and more "next big things"...I just hope that Hastin and Norm and Dusty can still keep MiceAge/MiceChat around in some kind of layman-terms form that people like me can still use. God bless our MC leaders, one and all.

And to those that like to use the other things, blessings to you too!

"And I think to myself...what a wonderful world..."

If they ever did an average-words-per-post count on this site, I'd be right up there. I sure do have a lot of hot air sometime...OK, most of the time....

I know that's the point - but that ISN'T necessarily why people come to a site like Micechat. And what many people don't realize is it doesn't matter what your privacy setting is in the example I gave.

You may have hidden your friends list, but I was still able to find you in Dusty's friend's list. And that is the piece many people stumbling from Micechat into FB may not recognize.

If you like to stay anonymous, or control who you share stuff with - mixing Micechat and Facebook is not a good idea.
