"Do I think I was born this way? No," Swoopes said. "And that's probably confusing to some, because I know a lot of people believe that you are."

I'd like to hear her reasons why she feels she wasn't born this way. Was it a recent realization? But in any case it's always nice to hear a celebrity coming out. Well, in most cases (Anne Heche anyone - lol).

Anne Heche isn't gay. Oh wait, yes she is. Oh never mind, no she isn't....

See- I don't get this. You can say it isn't a choice- but when someone comes out and says that for them, it WAS a choice- it's a problem? For some people it isn't hardwired, and they make a decision to live their life a certain way with certain people?

Regardless, she is who she is and if coming out as a gay woman in the WNBA helps other young women (and men) come to terms with their own sexuality then thats the most important reason and kudos to her. Personally I know Ellen coming out aided in my decision.

Maybe some are born gay and others aren't?

All I know is that I KNEW my little brother was gay by the time he was two!

I'm not going to take the argument bait - maybe after lunch - but good for her for coming out and being a role model for other women.

it's not argument bait to ask a question. Good lord- try to understand something around here from another point of view and get this....

                      Enjoy lunch.

There are just things that you need to talk to other women with. You may have the best relationship in the world with your husband, but there are just times you need your girlfriends. It makes for a healthier and happier you which makes everything else you do better.

I asked a QUESTION- based on GC's comment on her saying it was not a choice! I wanted to clarify and understand WHY that was an issue...WTH is the problem???? I did not say anything NON-supportive- I asked a question. What I would like to know now is why is the reaction defensive and hostile?

Honest to god- this is impossible. :bang: I am not inclined to be railroaded by certain people again-maybe GC would like to explain how he feels that comment affects her impact on coming out.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Do not condemn because their's is different from others. Man, how dull this world would be if we all thought the same way.
