  • Mr. Sulu Comes Out of the Closet

Actor George Takei, best known as Mr. Sulu on the classic TV series Star Trek , comes out of the closet in the new issue of Frontiers . Or rather, as he tells editor Alexander Cho, "It's not really coming out, which suggests opening a door and stepping through. It's more like a long, long walk through what began as a narrow corridor that starts to widen."

I always thought that Mr. Sulu and Mr. Checkov were TV's first interspacial Gay couple.

BTW, this particular issue isn't the "final" Frontiers, is it?

Re: Mr. Sulu Comes Out of the Closet

I knew from friends he was gay but closeted (the Hollywood closet), and they told me this like 15 years ago when I wasn't gay - lol. Its about time some male celebrities are starting to come out more, like George and Tab Hunter. The closeted men of the world need some male celebrity role models too ya know.

I heard about this some time ago as well from a gay friend, who unfortunately passed away about 10 years ago.

Maybe now Shatner will admit it and take off the "rug."
