Tiger's New Nike Ad - What Do You Think?

To the moderators...please consider leaving this thread here, because I'm here not to address the golf aspect of Tiger.

And even though people will do what they please in hopefully responding, I really don't want to re-hash the events of Tiger's life since last Thanksgiving.

But I heard about the new Nike ad that I am presuming will start with the Masters this week.

And I looked it up, and to me...it's weird bordering on creepy, and I just don't think it's a good direction for the swoosh to go.

Reports indicate that Earl Woods was something of a womanizer himself.

I want to concentrate of his golf this weekend. This makes it harder still.

Its definitely not what I expected. Im pouting because I am sorry . I think they should focus on what a great golfer he is and leave his personal life alone from now on. I dont think anyone will argue that he is a great golfer, just not a good husband.

I heartily disapprove of using dead people as shills. I don't care whether it's Earl Woods or Fred Astaire, using someone's voice or image after they're no longer alive to give or deny permission is wrong.

On a side note: does anyone else find it ironic that Tiger's "comeback" is at Augusta, a club that has never admitted women?

I agree. Doesn't he want to put the tabloid stuff behind, and have people concentrate on his golf? Great. Love to, Tiger. But because of your own commercial, I am forever reminded of the other stuff. What are the folks in Nike Nation Oregon, and their ad agency, and Tiger, thinking?

I completely agree, Barry. This ad is creepy and makes me kinda angry in some way (I'm not sure why...) He made his obligatory public apology, now shut up already and deal with your private life privately,and just play golf...

Nike is reaching trying to save Tiger with this desperate commercial. That was my first thought. It looks depressing if you ask me. I must say though it did catch my attention b/c everyone is buzzing about it.

I found this ad to be so distasteful and sleazy. Way to exploit your dead father, Tiger! Gross. Gross and tacky and absolutely pathetic. That commercial left me cold. I went from a kind of vague, judgey amusement over the Tiger debacle to feeling the utmost revulsion for this guy. Obviously nothing is sacred to him, not even the memory of his father. Ew.

As I watch it more Im like "Are you serious" Its just pathetic, I bet they told him "Alright Tiger I want you to put the saddest look on your face, we really need to gain some sympathy for you" What he has done is already done, Your not going to fix it, your not going to erase it from our memories. Just golf wonderful win some cups win the masters and it will get better, Like I said were not buying Nike products because of what kind of husband he is. Were buying it based on his talents.

I can't believe this ad. How is it supposed to promote Nike? Instead, it's promoting Tiger Woods, not for his golfing, but for being a (for lack of a better word) jerk, while also exploiting his dead father.
