Single Riders at DL - the Next Generation

A little over a year ago, I started a tradition of Single Rider meets, mainly as a solution for those of us who were tired of "riding alone" or being the "odd man out" amongst couples. The meets were very casual, with no pressure of hooking up with anyone, but just having a grand ol' time with fellow single Disney geeks. After Mamabot read the "Who do you go to the park with" thread and seeing all those people who go to the parks alone (like I did for so long!), she thought a revival of Single Rider meets would be a wonderful thing.

The meets were traditionally on Friday nights, and were sometimes populated with only singles, and sometimes there were already spoken for Disneyland fans along for the fun too.

How do Friday nights at 7pm at Coke Corner sound to you guys?

I will be happy to go to some of the meets (especially the first one) as a point of contact and help with introductions. It's a LOT of fun - usually sitting around chatting, listening to Rod play the piano, and then trekking off for some rides - whatever the group decides. It's a fantastic way to make friends and possibly more! (Hey, it's how I met my honey! I also made some wonderful friends too.)

I have many single-rider stories. All of which are true, yet hard to fathom by most due to the fact they generally live far less exciting lives than myself. I find myself best recollecting an experience on the canoes. I, along with one other cast member, paddled that wooden nightmare all over the rivers of america! I was exhausted. Now compare and contrast that with an incident taking place on the same day just across the way. While we were boarding the Mali-boomer, 6 rather overweight individuals pused in front of a family that had been waiting in line, and proceeded to begin strapping themselves into the constraints. This was a loosing battle. They were unable to fit comfortably, or in my opinion impossibly, into the seats. I am not sure if there has been a time in my life that I have laughed harder than I did that day! They went through all that trouble to cut in line and shove past patiently waiting guests only to be embarrassed in front of a large croud! Even the CM's couldn't get a hold of themselves :lol: :lol:

You could always come to one of the Weekly meets at the Hub on Sundays.

I didn't say I'd be there weekly. Just once in awhile. And at least for the first one, just to help it kick off.

No Friday night for me this week. But, the general area where we'd meet was usually towards the back end of CC, near the Candy Palace entrance.

I'll be there all day next Friday, however.

I think we should have the first one be a meet you can attend DP. I will not be able to make it on March 18th, but I know you will have fun without me.

Well, March 18th I'll be there with a group of non-Disney geek friends, so I won't be able to fully do a meet, but rather just pop by and say hello for a couple minutes.

However, if people post here and show interest that they'd want to go, then we can actually plan a Friday night so I can be there.

I'm free for this Friday, but after that I might not be available on Friday evenings for the forseeable(sp?) future due to other obligations. Actually if things go as planned I might be able to meet up for a quick meet on some Fridays... But this Friday is open...
