  • What you you like about San Francisco?

Now I know we have a lot of chatters here who have visited San Fran. So what did you enjoy about it the most? Fisherman's Wharf was nice. So was Gheradeli's Cholocate Factory (I bet I spelled it wrong so please forgive me )). I really wanted to see Alcatraz but the tours were booked for weeks. But I still had a good time. What do you guys like about San Fran?

I used to live in Monterey, so I spent a fair amount of time in San Francisco. I like the atmosphere, its cosmopolitan without being cold and aloof. Lots of history. And my brother and his partner can walk around holding hands without being assulted... that's a big bonus.

    Oh and its spelled: Ghirardelli

It's romantic, scenic, has a relatively decent public transportation system, great Chinese restaurants, and it's very walkable...

Hey do any of you know the name of the submarine that is in Fishermans Wharf? I remember I went there a few years back and we went and did a walk through tour of a submarine.

Palace of the Legion of Honor... Great Museum houses the largest collection of Roden in the world - including "the Thinker" which is in the courtyard... It is also the best place to take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge if it is sunny out...

Of course there is sipping a Vanella Coke at Max's All Night Diner after seeing a show on Geary...

Nothing beats Union Square durring the holidays...

Justin Herman Plaza is now host to the ice rink... so you can skate between the Hyatt Recency and the Ferry Building - with the lit bridge in the back ground... in the evenings which never get too cold... That's magic - right there...

It's a beautiful, romantic city. There are so many things one can do there. It's filled with history, great architecture, great food, cool people. Plus for me, it's the first vacation I ever took with SunnyG

Me too - we were really disappointed we couldn't do the tour. The GG Bridge was fantastic, though.

                          Jeeze.. where to begin..

The cultural melting pot and fusion of so many lands...

Having a drink at the Cliff House, the old whaling station that overlooks the Pacific...

                          Relaxing in Golden Gate Park...

Standing on the Golden Gate Bridge while the fog comes in, letting it carress you...

The cheesy tourist traps at Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39...

                          Pac Bell Park...

                          Candlestick...

                          Sutro Hill and Twin Peaks...

Harris Steak house, The Stinking Rose, Hamburger Mary's, Mel's, Liverpool Lil's, The Tonga Room, Carnelian Room, and all the other great places to eat...

                          The History...

                          Mission Delores...

                          Cable Cars...

                          Haight Ashbury....

                          Castro at Halloween...

The Coronet Theater (They unfortunatly tore it down)

The italian feel to the North Beach...

                          The Museums...

                          The Metreon...

Pretty much everything except parking, driving, and when you live there you share a common wall with your neighbor.

I've never been there, so I'll have to say Rice-a-Roni. Especially the cheesey kind.
