  • What is your favorite version of A Christmas Carol?

    I'm sure you've all seen some version of A Christmas Carol. Whether you liked it or not, which one was your favorite version?

    1) Mickey Mouse
    2) Alastair Sim (in Scrooge)
    3) Patrick Stewart
    4) Muppet's Christmas Carol (with Michael Caine as Scrooge)
    5) George C. Scott
    6) Kelsey Grammar
    7) Tim Curry
    8) Vanessa L. Williams (in A Diva's Christmas Carol)
    9) Flinstones Christmas Carol (with Fred as Scrooge)
    10) Other

    Personally, I think the Patrick Stewart version is the best.

        I like Mickey's over all but Muppets comes in a close second, and George C. Scott's one come in third.

        The scariest scen in Scott's one I think is when the tall giant guy opens his robe to reveal two very skinny, perhaps starving children. That really scared me.

              WKRP in Cincinnati baby

              ...with Mr Carlson as Scrooge;

              Jennifer as the Ghost of Christmas Past;

              Venus as the Ghost of Christmas Present;

              and Dr. Johnny Fever as the Ghost of Christmas Future.

                  Just as a little fun fact....
                  I know that most people refer to the 1951 version (starring Alastair Sim) as the original, but there were a few others that were made before that one...
                  • 1908: Starring Tom Ricketts
                  • 1910: An 11 minute version starring Marc McDermott
                  • 1914: Directed by Harold Shaw, Starring Charles Rock
                  • 1915: Starring Delmer Daves
                  • 1938: Directed by Edwin Marin, Starring Reginald Owen
                  • 1943: Directed by George Lowther, Starring William Podmore
                  • 1947: Starring John Carradine
                  • 1949: Directed by Arthur Pierson, Starring Taylor Holmes
                  • 1950: Starring Bransby Williams
                  Tim Curry was in a version of A Christmas Carol????
                  Yep. He was in 1997's animated musical version of A Christmas Carol. That same movie also starred the likes of Whoopie Goldberg, Jodie Benson, Ed Asner, and others. Check here for more info.

                      :ap: While I enjoyed many of the versions.
                      The original with Alastair Sim will always be the best, and the one that I look forward to seeing year after year. :ap:

                        Tim Curry did a Version?..... I will have to look for that.

                        But overall, I like the George C. Scott Version.

                        And Sorry, but last years Kelsey Grammer version was actually PAINFUL to watch.

                          Muppet.

                          Funnier, well written, great songs, and more true to the origional material (having Dickens as the narrator).
