  • A couple of technical questions about the boards...

First, is there some way that we can find out who is giving us reputation points?

Second, there seems to be a limit on the number of smilies used in a given post. Is there some way to increase that number? I like to use smilies. :monkey:
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

You can check your reputation by going into your User CP, tells you their name and a short message.

They can change the # of allowable smilies by changing the number of allowable inline images, I believe.

Reputation will be explained in an FAQ very soon. The purpose is to allow others to help moderate the boards. If your Reputation mojo drops to a certain level, you won't be able to post in all forums.

Lots of safeguards are built in, so you can't keep giving the same person positive (or negative for that matter) reputation over and over.

The more you post and the higher your personal reputation, the more your reputation votes mean when you give them, and the more often the system will allow you to vote on reputation.

No worries, all will be explained later. For now, if someone is being a really good board member, give them some positive reputation and just know that your comments are going to a good cause.

If you see someone being a rude , and you think they are doing it on purpose, give them negative points. Chances are that everyone else will be doing the same thing and it will help suppress them from continuing with their negativity from fear of being automaticly suspended from the boards. All without a moderator ever having to make a judgement.

True self-moderation. At least in theory.

Thank you for the explanation. The theory behind it is well thought out.

        Now about those smilies...

I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

So, Dusty, we could, theoritically, do a mass de-reputationization on all the admin, effectively giving us free reign on the boards?

Not that I would ever organize such a thing...

                Not exactly.

We'd just ban all of you instead.

Not that I would ever organize such a thing...

Doesn't work on the Admins, but I think it does on the Mods (When we finally get around to assigning them).

Reputation is a two way street. Positive actions are met with positive rewards and negative actions are met with an appropriate response as well. If one or two people gang up to ding someone's virtual karma, it won't really do much harm. But if someone is really being a jerk on the boards, everyone will see it, and the consequences can be much more defined.

And there will always be Moderators and Admins around if something terrible happens. Although, we really want to be a mainly group moderated boards.
I think the reputation system will allow that to happen.

That sort of negativity will get you negative points.

Hey, just wanted to say thanks for the ease of registering. I've found that it seems like I have to jump through so many hoops just to start posting!

And what's behind the color scheme of the board? I feel like I've been dropped in the Southwest...
