  • Picking your own present?

My DH let me pick my own gift for our own anniversarry, which was fun, but now he wants me to pick my own Christmas present too! I don't know whether this is sweet because he wants me to get something I want, or if its just plain lazy and requires no thought or effort on his part!
(I told him I'm getting something that sparkles!)
    What's your take?
I reject your reality, and subsitute my own!

I love picking out my own gifts. And I HATE picking out gifts for my husband. I'd rather everyone on earth just tell everyone else on earth what they want....so. that. they. get. it. It's so simple!

I promise to never be like my parents and just tell anyone who asks, "Oh, I don't need anything!" and then complain about what they DO get. That's the worst!

I'd be fine with picking out my own present!

My husband and I keep a running list on the computer all year long. If we want something, we add to the list, if we get it then we remove it. So, technically, if we always buy from the list, we are picking out our own gifts. Most of the time, we do shop for ourselves and get what we are sure we want rather than the other getting the wrong thing - like these tools he wants, I haven't a clue where to get them so he is doing it himself.

              When I make a list...of things I want...I usually get what's on the list.

When I DON'T make a list...I get things like GC to The Buckle! I've never even set foot in The Buckle...EVER! Nor have I EVER expressed a desire to shop there. But that's what I got...

Or I get Starbucks Espresso machines...which is great! But I know how much that things cost! And I know what a waste of money it was even before I opened the box! Like I'm going to just make them and home and never go to Starbucks again...come on!!!

So...I guess I like making "lists" but I also like being surprised!
              Us girls, we're so magical.
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable.
              Hard to resist, so touchable.
              Too good to deny it.
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent.

See, I've always told him what I want, but he never gets anything I ask for...
Now this is more than asking for something or making a list, he's saying actually going to store, getting what I want, then him charging it!
I reject your reality, and subsitute my own!

                  Re: Picking your own present?

I am very specific about my list to the husband. I worked in retail for many years, so it was hard for him to shop for me anyhow. Now, we set a dollar limit and go for it. Most of our gift giving is spent on fam and friends.
