  • Birds really are DUMB!

Had a Homing Pigeon fly directly into my front window (4' x 2') this afternoon, high speed. Cracked the window in all directions, so now has to be boarded up and replaced. Found the poor thing lying upside down in a bush (thought for sure he was dead), but a stray cat that we have hanging around made him move....quickly, I would assume because he/she made into a planter I have on the front porch. Thank goodness my neighbor rescues and mends broken birds, or the poor thing would have been devoured by my stray cat. Anyone else ever have this happen?

Reminds me of that episode of Seinfeld where George
runs into a pigeon while driving. The gal driving with
him was a big animal fan and was all upset about it.
George insisisted "We have a deal with them, they do
their thing on our statues and look the other way,
and when we drive, they get out of our way."

We had an owl that lived on our road. We live in the middle of no where with lots of empty buildings for them to live in. He use to buzz cars going up our dirt road untill he hit my durango. He was killed It seemed right away. The poor thing I felt so bad. He went about half way thru the windsheild and got stuck. I had bad dreams about it for months. Now we have a new one doing the same thing. I sure hope it dont happen again!

A bird hit my mom's window when I was a kid. She wouldn't let me keep it and try to find someone to help him; he disappeared, might have been only stunned. Didn't break the glass or anything.

I've also had an owl hit the high antenna on the roof of my car. I only saw him a time or two after that, but he was always clear of the car which is good. I haven't seen him in quite a while, so I hope he's ok.

I had a Red tail Hawk that was chasing a Yellow finch type bird Fly right into a school window all at once. The Yellow finch was killed instantly. As I ran over to look at what happened the Hawk turned it's head while lying on the ground and got up and flew off. It was amazing maybe I had the glass to clean, but that was strange. Hope you get it fixed.

Be careful Wolfy, make sure you clean up yourself good, outdoor birds tend to carry alot of diseases. According to a friend of mine who removes Pigeons from business buildings that cause damage.

There's a male hummingbird that has flown into the garage and then into the house twice this past year. I hear this loud buzzing sound and find him frantically banging against a window. Carefully I sneak up and cup my hand over him and slip the other underneath and he immendiately goes still and nestles in my palm with his head and beak protruding through my slightly open middle fingers.

When released he doesn't fly immediately but then takes off like a shot and sits in the lime tree where he screeches loudly like he's been defiled by the touch of a human.

:ap: We have rescued birds in need many times. As well as having had many of our own. Though sometimes they do some rather dumb things, I've had many birds that spoke (males speak) I had one in particular if he was not getting enough attention, he would start saying, "I love you, I love you!" This of course would get anyone at the house to run over to him and tell him what a pretty & smart bird he was! ~
                        Not too dumb!
I hope the pigeon makes it. :ap:

I was at Smith's today, and a bird just came flying into the store. Poor thing, it might never find its way out again.
