  • Disney Animators Hired By Wisconsin Company!

    Cool!

    http://www.todaystmj4.com/_content/N...s/20051222.asp
The next "Lion King" could roar out of tiny town called Polk, Wisconsin. A brand new animation studio just set up shop. As Shelley Walcott shows you tonight, that studio-- like Disney so many decades ago-- is relying on a little mouse for a miracle...
Disney shut down its two-dimensional animation studios, leaving hundreds of artists without jobs. About a dozen have found their way here to Wisconsin, to work on a brand new feature film.

"Put in two steel rods...one, two... Okey dokey."

Meet Miracle Mouse and Okey Dokey. You may have seen them in commercials. But they'll eventually make the jump to the big screen... Thanks to creator Tom Hignite, the owner of miracle homes.
When Disney closed up shop, Hignite had an idea.
"It occurred to me that this is too much of an American heritage item, this is something America is known for is Disney cartoons and something could be done about it."
Thus, miracle studios was born. Hignite hired those out-of-work animators to come here-- and work on not only his commercials... But the big prize... A feature film.

Follow the link for the rest of the story.

BTW, sorry if this was posted before, or is old news. I searched the forum and couldn't find any posts on this.

Yeah I was told about a year or two back that states such as Utah and others are trying to draw in animators and artists.

Quite a culture shock moving from Orlando to Wisconsin. BRRRRRR!
One of my good friends was a lead animator in Florida. They were just starting "My Peoples" (Was that the official name?) when the roof caved in and everyone was sent packing. He has FIVE kids, and he and his wife were suddenly out on the street. I really hope traditional animation fights its way back. I remember being shocked that Disney would just pull the plug like that. DISNEY!! The company that INVENTED the genre!

But specifically about this story...If this Miracle Mouse person looks even vaguely like Mickey, watch this young studio get crushed with lawsuits.
Here's hoping they make it against the odds!

Very smart, opening the studio in a far-off state. Makes it easier to pay them less - too hard to go interviewing elsewhere.

        Hey, software companies do it.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I doubt it'll look like Mickey... I'm sure they're smarter than that.

I just hope this one will survive. After Disney threw them out, a lot of them went into similar newly started animation companies for the same reason this one was made, but most of the were shut down before a year was done.

Be interesting to see what comes of this. All the radio ads for Miracle Homes end with the tagline, "A Christian based company." I don't know whether or not that will factor into the animation part of it. I wonder if the owner, Tom Hignite, will have them crank out Christian movies and features to spread his word. We'll see I guess...

Know if they have a website yet? That would be the best way for us to know...

This Hignite guy seems to be on a mission here. Wow. I never realized the depth of this whole project and how big a Disney fan he is. The saveddisney.com site even has a forum. Wow...

And Miracle's link page has a link to some place called "MiceAge.com."

                    Hmmm... never heard of it.
