With two more days to go, I passed 10,000 miles today. The pressure is off!

9914 miles. Two more rides at 40+ each ought to do it. I plan to ride one of them tomorrow.

At 9817, I have less than 200 to go. I hope the weather holds out.

After 5 days off (trip to Disneyland), I got in 99 miles this weekend. Now I have less than 300 to go, but I may be cutting it a bit close!

Less than 500 miles now. Might get in close to 100 over the weekend. Weather looks good.

Less than 600 now. Didn't get many miles in this weekend due to stormy weather. As soon as it dries out, I'll be back on the road.

That's awesome Trekkie Dad!!! Something to be proud of.
I was hoping to surpass 1,000 miles running this year but it looks like I'm going to miss it by about 60-70 miles.

700 miles to go. I've now surpassed last year's time spent on a bike. Weather's been favorable, but wetter conditions loom in the future.

10,000 mile cycling goal within reach!
Today (11/23) is the day I surpassed my previous record of 9203 cycling miles in a single year. If I maintain my current pace of about 200 miles/week, I should finish 2012 with over 10,000 miles in the saddle.
You may think that I am a gifted athlete and have competed on a bicycle since my youth. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I took up cycling in my late forties, joined a club, and just kept going. I learned to ride better, eat better, and found my weight dropping and my fitness improving. Now in my sixties, I find myself much stronger and 25 pounds lighter than I was at almost any other time in my adult life.
I did not start this year with a goal of 10,000 miles in mind. Riding with friends and staying upright were (and are) my foremost goal. It's only lately that I realized I may pass this milestone.
I'll add to this thread from time to time and continue to update my signature with current stats every few days.
