  • The Haunted Mansion story game

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this but I'll give it a try. Years ago we played a game based on the Haunted Mansion at another web site. The game would start with the beginning of a story about the Haunted Mansion. Each response to the thread would build upon the story until we have a story written by everybody on the board. After adding your piece leave the post with a way for the next person to continue the story. I'll start...

"Have you ever seen a haunted house. You know the kind I mean. An old dark house that is usually at the end of a dimly lit street. The owners haven't been seen for years. No one really knows why.

The windows are broken and boarded and the shutters hang loose on their hinges. The trees have grown wild. Their branches brush against the side of the weathered house making strange noises in the night. A high iron fence circles the property. Is it there to keep somebody out? Or is it there to keep something in side?

It's a house people avoid walking past at night. Strange sounds come from within the walls. And its been said eerly lights have been seen both in the attic windows and in the graveyard at the side of the house.

Our story revolves around this mysterious mansion.

On a night not long ago. Two teenagers were walking home from a date. The night was cool and lightening broke Thur the sky. Thunder began to roll and the lightening cracked again. Thunder rolled across the heavens and changed this pleasant evening into a night to be remembered.

Mike and Karen ran to the old house. Thu the old iron gate and onto the porch for protection.

    Protection? If they only knew...."

...for there wasn't a rubber to be found!

"I told you we should've stopped by the gas station! They always have them in the restrooms!" remarked Mike.

Now what were they to do? Here they were, two teenagers at an abandoned mansion. The only sensible thing is to go inside, or else they very well may get struck by lightning. Tin-foil hats may be good for aliens and reception on TV, but it's clearly not good for storms and what's about to meet them inside the old Mansion...

Well, Mike and Karen decided to get protection FROM THE STORM. So they went inside the old dark house. Mike tried with all of his might to get the door open, but it wouldn't budge. Finally, Karen asked him to step aside, and with a flick of her wrist and a twist of the handle, the door opened. Mike couldn't understand it, but proceeded into the musty smelling house. The foyer was as dark and as quiet as a tomb. Karen found and lit an old candlabra. There was a marble bust in the room atop a mantle, and above that, a portrait of the same man depicted in the bust. The bust was inscribed with the name "Edward Gracey". Suddenly, a voice came booming from behind the wall. Karen and Mike jumped back towards the door, which slowly creaked shut. The voice said, "When hinges creak in door-less chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker, though the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight." The voice then welcomed the foolish teens and introduced himself as their "host", their "Ghost Host". The voice urged Mike and Karen to step inside a secret doorway. Inside, they found...

Frightened out of their minds by Star Jones, Mike and Karen ran for the front door. As they approached the door slammed shut and shrunk down to the size of a door especially made for Barbie doll. From out of no where, a shrimp came running towards the door. As he got to the door he shouted, "I'm not a shrimp! I'm a King Prawn!" and ran out the door slamming it as he left.

Mike and Karen were trapped. The only other exit from the room lead into a large portrait gallery. Inside they found....

...portraits of famous Amish clowns. Yoder the Humourous was especially recognized by Mike and Karen, as they had seen him perform at that Amish brothel just 5 days ago.

"Well, this place can't be that bad if they can recognize a comedic genious such as Yoder," informed Kevin.

Mike and Karen wondered how Kevin wondered in; isn't his column three days late? So, with a bolt of lightning and some Stephen King suspense, Kevin was quickly written out of the script so that we may continue our little story.

But the only problem was that Mike and Karen were still stuck in the room with only a mad writer to help them out.

Speaking of Mad, at that moment, the lights shut off, the lightning cracked, and out from the ceiling dropped...

                Jar Jar Binks!

Mike being a huge star wars fan immediately started to kick the crap out of Jar Jar and blamed him for the awfulness of episode one.

At that moment a door opened in the gallery. Mike and Karen left the room leaving the beaten and bloody corpse of Jar Jar to rot. They were immediately greeted by....

...George Lucas. No, wait... that's not George Lucas, that's the Count Dooku from Lego Star Wars!

Luckily, Mike had his light sabres with him and quickly finished him off in such a stunning fashion that I'm sure that you would've really liked to hear.

                  Meanwhile, Karen pulled the lever.

                            egg fever.

Suddenly, all of the doors slowly opened.

"What the hell is going on?" asked Mike.

Suddenly, with a brilliant flash of lightning, Kevin was written back into the script as Morpheus.

Mike knew what was happening. As he and Kevin got "ready" for whatever was happening, Karen watched hatched egg. She saw human fingers slowly emerge from it. She knew who it was. It was the Keymaker! She grabbed his hand and helped him out.

As that happened, MOBS of Agent Smiths came rushing out of the doors behind the group. Karen and the Keymaker made a run for it, while Mike and Kevin stayed back fighting off the Smiths.

The two reached an end to the hallway, only to find a locked door.

"Have no fear, the Keymaker is here!" mused the Keymaker.

He pulled out a key from his sleeve and slowly inserted it into the lock. As he opened the door...
