No matter what your faith, we was a great man and the world is worse off without him. As a catholic, I loved and respected him very much.

The Vatican has not confirmed this yet- this is media speculation at this point.

No other source is reporting this, although it is just a matter of time.

Although I'm no longer Catholic, and don't agree with the God like stature the Pope gets, you can't deny that he has done great things.

Yes several news stations are reporting it but most are making speculation based on bells. Give it time for the Vatican to confirm or deny.

Italian press was too quick... his heart and brain are still working.

                    so- nothing else is?

I think this whole watching him die bit by bit is really becoming depressing and morbid

Hey now, let's not point fingers. Others posted that CNN stated it as well.

All I am saying is that this is not the topic to go slamming Fox, or anyone else for that matter. It just doesn't belong.

                                  Really-

                                    Neph,
In all fairness they have a point. Fox News, CNN and MSNBC must run news programming pretty close to 24 hours a day. So they have a habit (all three) of making speculative news and inviting commentary before a news topic has even been confirmed.
It used to be news organizations were held to a higher standard but cable tv has forced these stations to drudge up news and use little real journalism skills to back it up.
                                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
In respect to the Pope John Paul II's condition, I would prefer to continue to pray and avoid speculation until the church had made a statement.

Ok sorry. Let me just say then that there are are a lot of conflicting reports on this matter, and as of now the Pope in not officially dead. He is however in a worsening condition.

No, they do not have a point. I am a news junkie- I flip between many many news sites all day long. ONE site said he was dead- that was Drudge. Fox News never updated their site- if it was on TV I can't account for it. I myself posted several other places (not here) for confirmation- got none. My problem is it is totally uncalled for the say we should not believe it because Fox reported it. Keep the partisan political snideness out of this topic- period. It doesn't belong. You want to slam the news for jumping the gun, fine- but don't go acting like Fox is somehow a stand out here- especially given that based on what I saw - they did not jump it, at lease online.
