  • I need your creative help-

As some people know I am part of a group that will be singing at the Colorado Renaissance Festival.

There is a song in our sets called "heiland laddie" and we need to come up with some more verses- so here is where you come in-

Here are a couple of examples:

    Were you ever in Quebec
    Stowin' timber on the deck?
where ye'd break yer bleedin' neck
    Bonnie Heiland Laddie!

Were you ever off the Horn
Where it's always fine and warm?
    Where's there's a lion and a unicorn
    Bonnie Heiland Laddie!
So it names a place, and then goes from there.....

Think renn faire, drinking, wenchs and knights, kings and dragons, bawdy and lusty and lots of fun.

Can you help me? Even just some ideas- I can help with the cadence of the verse once it gets going!

    please please please????????

And what of that narsty dragon?
Who did appear when ye were braggin'
and drinking deep from yer flaggon!
    Bonnie Heiland Laddie!
Anyone up for a Colorado Micechatters meet-up?

Were you ever in South Wales
          And hear the naughty tales
About the way they starch their sails

Sounds like Great Big Sea's "Donkey Riding" you might want to cross referance it...

I recomend that you check out Traditional Music websites...

The original lyrics Hieland Laddie is on there too...

For heaven's sake, go with period lyrics!!! Canada wasn't discovered durring Elizabeth's reign!!! Ok, I know people sing songs that are victorian at ren faires... but sheesh... try to at least make it sound period... Just my bias...

                --- How do I know this ---

I play with a bunch of Ren Faire buddies of myself up here in Nor Cal... So there, my dirty little secrite is out... I'm scarred for life now....

Yup- found that today already too- but thanks for the link

We can make changes- although we leave some things alone. I let the people leading the group, who have worked faire for more than a decade- make those calls.

                          Thanks again!
