  • Is this appropriate office attire?

More and more I'm seeing women wear these type of shorts and capris to the office. Is this considered ok to wear in an office/business attire? Even with heals and a nice blouse, to me...they're still 'shorts'.

Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
    Marge: Pink.
    Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

I believe so with the second picture. I often wear capri's to work, not as short as the first picture, mine cover my knees. That first pair is definetly too short. I really like the style of the second pair though, where did you get that pic... Id like to buy those....

I work in admin and meet with clients a lot, they also wear capri's. So again, yea.. it seems to be the norm now.

Both examples are just fine for the modern workforce. If you work for some church or other really conservative place, they may have an issue, but I see people every day dressed like this who look very nice. I think one caveat would be that the outfit fit well and be appropriate for the wearer's body type.

Yeah, the second looks a little more classy and professional...but I'm still seeing both worn by women at the office. If it is considered 'ok' now to wear that....YAY! I love capris!

#1 I couldn't see in anything but a "casual" office

#2 I could see the gauchos being worn. I've thought about getting some myself for the office.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I agree that the second example is much more work appropriate. At first I wasn't fond of the reprise of the Goucho Pant style (which is also what the female CM's on Indy and Jungle Cruise wear...just way baggier and longer), but I definatly think that style really is office wear-able. It's pretty much a skirt with a seam in the middle. And they're quite comfy.

Depends on where you work, and even then you have to wear REAL pants, not the kind that look like fancy sweats. Those do not count.

I really, really like the shoes in pic #1.

And they are both cute. I have seen the first pair worn with a dressy shirt and heels and it looked great. Maybe not a good idea for a job interview, but for the average day in the office, no worries. I think the more creative the work you do, probably the more lax the dress code.

I work in a casual office and have a few pairs of gauchos that I wear. I'd wear the shorts (they are too short to be called capris) but I'd probably dress them up with a jacket and nice shoes (not flip flops).

Grouchos...that's what they're called! Yeah...on certain *sizes* they're not so flattering....too boxy and baggy. Hence my hesitance to wearing them. But, they are cute. Just wasn't sure if they were ok to wear in an office setting.

I'd have a hard time seeing either in the office where I used to work.

Then again, I saw a lot of things in the office that I thought were not right.

I know what you mean about them not looking quite right. But, I found a pair of gouchos that are from the active wear section, and they're pretty comfy and look decent and were only $13. Yay Target!!

In a workplace that does "Business Casual" every day, those would be fine with a dressy top and nice shoes. If it's strictly "Business" attire? No way.

I haven't worn capris to work since 1989...and my co workers DEFINITELY did not appreciate it back then.

Of course that could have been because I'm a guy....

                              Good morning, son
                              In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                              It was pain
                              Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
