  • Gamestop Buys Electronics Boutique

    GameSpy.Com
Arstechnica.com is reporting that GameStop has acquisitioned the Electronics Boutique chain for $1.44 billion in cash and stock. The terms of the deal has EB shareholders getting $38.15 and 0.78795 shares of GameStop for each share of EB.
Oddly enough, EB Games is the richer of the two chains! This officially makes Gamestop the biggest retailer of videogames, topping Best Buy and Wal-Mart.

I knew something was up! There were two GameStop locations at the Mall of America (one on each side and various levels) and an Eletronic Boutique too. The EB was by the rotunda in the center but recently closed along with the GameStop by Camp Snoopy (better location if you ask me) but the smaller of the two. Any other big changes?

You mean they weren't already the same store/company?!

Electronics Boutique closed down a LONG time ago at my mall. The location is still a game shop, but I can't remember the name of it right now. Gamestop is still alive in the mall, though.
