  • ERNESTO: Looks like we got a bullseye on us this time

Here we go again! Just last night they had it hitting the panhandle... WTF?!

Yet I'm betting they'll predict another change in course within the next 24-48 hours.

    THIS. IS. NOT. FAIR!!!!

To repeat my thoughts from the other threads...best wishes and prayers to all those in the affected areas...especially not only in Florida but in the other recovering Gulf Coast regions...

As a Floridian, all I can say is:

                    BRING IT ON!

Just kidding. I could of done without all the hurricane drama again this year, but it's nature and there's nothing I can do it about it. On that note I'm going to see where I can get my hand on a hurricane shaped cake for a party.

With the rotten luck I have, it would just follow me there.

A couple years ago when Charley hit, a friend of mine in St Pete went to her parent's house in Orlando thinking she'd be safe. Nope... Charley ripped right through the development her parent's house is in.

And I can't afford a hotel right now. 80% of my current paycheck is going to rent (which is due at the end of this week). The other 20% is going to my cell phone bill (due tomorrow), gassing up my car and groceries. I'm pretty much in brokesville until September 8th when I get paid again.

Just relax and be prepared. As a native Floridian I've lived through plenty of these storms. Should we take them seriously and take the necesary precautions? Absolutely! BUt I see no reason to get all uptight and freak out.

At the moment, there's still plenty of time for Ernesto to change it's path and not hit the Tampa Bay area directly. It also has a day or two of passing over the Cuban terrain that will weaken it before we see it.

Just remain calm and you'll get through it much better than you will in super freak out mode.

I've been in Florida for almost 7 years. I can handle a tropical storm.. I actually had to drive to work and work all day while one was blowing through 5 years ago. But I lived quite a bit inland in Tampa then (and worked in Brandon). Now I'm in Clearwater. Not right on the water near the Gulf but 2 or 3 miles from the water on the Bay side.

and as of today's most recent projections, the worst you're likely to see from Ernesto will be the equivelant of the afternoon storms we've had everyday for the past week or so.
