Thankfully, my mom was able to stop me.
I saw something similar - except that my mom was driving us to the market. She slowed down and was very, very careful not to hit any one of them...
I do remember thinking the little ones were awfully cute, though!
I've always wanted a pet skunk (de-scented, of course). They can be raised just like cats, and they even eat cat food. And, I would call him Stinky, and he would be my Stinky.
After some research, skunks are apparently fairly popular pets, and come in a variety of colors from various breeders.
When my grandfather was doing a room addition on his old house up north a "baby Kittie" like this one got stuck in one of the walls. It took YEARS to get the smell out.
