  • Dating Advice Needed (finally!) / 100th Post

My last relationship ended December 23rd of last year...since then I havn't even been on a single date...

Recently, someone I've known for a while...well, he was an aquaintance...we've started talking to each other...sometimes short hello, how was your days, and other times long hour and a half conversations...

About two Saturdays ago, we met up in Ontario to hang out...we ended up doing dinner and a movie...unfortunetly, the movie we wanted to see was starting rather soon, so we just hit Carls Jr...I ordered my sandwich, and then with out missing a beat, he threw in his order, and then paid for both of us...

I figured, if he's going to do that, I'm going to nab the tab (hehe) for the movie tickets, which I did...then he bought us soda and popcorn for the movie...

After the movie, we hopped into his car and he drove me back to mine, we sat there for about an hour talking, and then called it a night...the end...

We have quite a bit in common, we're both competative roller skaters, we're both majorly into cars, and his family (well, his mother) is Disney obsessed...he enjoys going to Disneyland when he can...

The only catch is our age...while I'll be turning twenty-two this next April, he'll be turning thirty-two before the end of the year...neither one of us knew each other's age when we started talking a lot...it was a funny conversation when we did talk about it...

Anyway...I'd like to hear what everyone thinks...get some opinions going...

    Thanks a ton!

    ~Jonno

Although the age difference can cause some problems if the two of you aren't on a even level with maturity, I don't see that as a real reason to NOT date someone. I have several dear friends who have a significant age difference between them and they're very happy and stable couples.

I say go for it, as long as you're being level headed.

    Good luck!!!

      I say, Go for it!

If this is something that you want, you are old enough to make your own choices and decisions. I say that since you are over 21, then age isn't a factor, alot of couples have signifigant age differences, and they are happy and stable!

Listen to your heart, that's my advice.

When you look at what matters in a relationship, age is typically the least important aspect. Most discord in relationships comes from non-compaitible philosophies regarding religion, money, children and life goals. Age can affect your opinion on these topics, but an age difference, in and of itself, would not be enough to stop me from dating someone.

Now, if you were 14 and he was 24 I would have a different opinion. Good luck!

age only matters to the ones involved...unless the age is under 18 (then I scream "nnooooooo!!!" really loudly). I say, if you both like each other, then you're both adults and that's all that matters. Why not give it a try?

But in the end, it's all about what YOU want to do (and what he wants to do also...obviously...)

Well - you cannot say 32 is 'old' because I will be 35 in a couple months! AHHAHAHA But 10 years isn't a huge issue - it's a matter of the heart.

I agree with migo. Go out again! That's what dating is, after all. You don't have to marry him after one evening out or anything! It sounds promising though, so take it slowly and see what happens.

You know what they say- no pain, no gain. Oh wait, that's not for dating....or is it?

My mom is dating a man who is nearly 25 years her senior. Once you are over 18 age doesn't matter all that much anymore. If you guys talked for a while without the age difference becoming apparent then it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Like others have said, go out again and again...a few more dates should tell you if you two can have something deeper or not. Age isn't the issue so much as compatability.

I say go for it. Like everyone else said, youre over 18, age should no longer be an issue.

10 years is a big gap. If it wasn't an issue, you wouldn't have posted about it.
