                    Current read:

Labyrinth by Kate Moss (no relation to the Jim Henson movie )

Previous books include Son of a Witch, Confessions of an Ugly Step-Sister, (re-read of) Wicked - The life and times of the Wicked Witch of the West - Gregory Maguire, The Davinci Code, Angels and Demons, Deception Point - Dan Brown, and the first four books of the Chronicles of Narnia. I have about 30 pages left in Doc Holliday: The Life and Legend which is the latest, and supposedly most complete biography. About one fifth of the pages bound in the book are the bibliograpy. I then plan to move onto The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

I found Wicked to be pretty dark and was glad I saw the play before I read the book. The book helped to explain some "missing pieces" from the play - but the play made me like the Elfie ( she was a hero of sorts) where the book made her seem more selfish and dark. What is the Son of a Witch like? How does it compare to her story (Wicked)? What about the Step-Sister? Can you give a short critique?

 it was good, I don't like the character of Liir too much, but what they did with the character's from the first book was excellent. I was very pleased. I actually like the darker tone the book had over the play in that it makes Elphaba a much more complex character knowing a little more about her past and the struggles she has to get through. And of course the ramifications and self strugles of what it means to be (or not) the "son of a witch" plus it had a superb ending.

                                Go read it NOW!

Currently reading "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini. Supposed to read it for my English class in college. It's interesting I suppose. I haven't really had a chance to really get into it yet. Working full time and going to school doesn't exactly leave you with a lot of free time during the week.

I agree the book did make Elphie more complex and perhaps "seeing" both made her more whole. But I liked the hope you got in the ending of the play for her and the scarecrow - the book was so sad in the end.
