  • Ever Have a "Disney Moment" at a non-Disney Place?

I had lunch with my girlfriend at Cheesecake Factory today (yummmm). While we were there, I had a serious case of Disney-On-The Brain. To explain:

    1. In a glass divider, I could see the reflection of a woman sitting at the table behind us--and it made her look like she was sitting in the lap of a gentleman dining across from us. "Cool," I thought. Just like the banquet hall scene at the Haunted Mansion.

    2. The scrollwork in the glass divider looked just like Hidden Mickeys.

    3. A classical piece of music by Tchaikovsky was playing through the speakers: Sleeping Beauty. Oh yeah, that's definitely "Once Upon a Dream."

    4. The waiter was wearing a Donald Duck tie.

Did Disney buy Cheesecake Factory without us noticiing? Am I losing it, or just obsessed?

Do you notice Disney things where you wouldn't expect them--especially things Disney muggles wouldn't catch?

What's your best non-Disney "Disney Moment"?

When I first arrived in Hawaii my wife and I went snorkeling. I was suddenly getting flashbacks of the Submarine Voyage.

Yup, everyday. My bedroom took on a PotC theme..especially the Colors of NOS. (took paint chips I FOUND..ok FOUND LOL) and matched them..the buff gold/yellow and blue trims..plus PotC posters (autographed) and Master Replica PotC sword, compass, etc. Sparrow and Will dolls, treasure chest, etc. Theme is now carried throughout the house (the colors dictated what would be). So not only do I think of the Park when I'm at home..

Without exception every single person who has walked into the house states.."Wow..this is soo cool, the colors remind of me Disneyland." LOL
Even people who don't go to the park hardly at all get the same feel..

So, I get a Disney Moment, every day..(but wish I was at the park right NOW!!!) LOL

Mine is Mickey Mouse. My roommates' boyfriends say that my room looks like Disney World, all happy and cheerful. :croll:

          Does that count?

When dining at McDonalds, I sometimes wonder if some of Mickey's cousins are mixed in with the meat in my Quarter Pounder sammich.

We had a mouse in our house about six months ago. Does that count?

Of course, it wasn't exactly a Disney moment.

Every now and then I run across a visitor center or national park place that feels like an EPCOT pavillion. I always like these moments!

We went to a wedding and as the music for the bridesmaids started playing my 5 year old announces "Hey this is from Bambi." At least it was not when the Bride came down.

When I was in Victoria BC a year ago I got that feeling. It was around 9 pm and it was dark, but most of the businesses where open and there were street performers. Some buildings are also outlines in white lights so the whole picture reminded me of main street usa at night.

More of a MiceChat related one, but someone told me a funny joke and I wished I could give them reputation for it.

ORDDU: At the broom factory--where my sisters and I are employed--we have this super conceited man who looks and acts just like Gaston from BEAUTY & THE BEAST. He's continually trying to get every woman at work in bed with him--except me, for some reason--and I find myself humming the Gaston theme song all day long while I work away, tying the wires around all those many pieces of straw so they won't fall off in mid-flight. (You may have heard of our business, by the way; it's call Brooms to Go!)

Instead of Sweet Sixteens, we have Debuts at 18 y/o for girls and 21 y/o for guys. The one I went to, it had a "dream come true" theme. The girl's best friend had a Beauty and a Beast themed one.

                            I hope that counts

The first time I was in Cartagena, Colombia, they took us on a day trip to the Rosario islands on a small boat. There was one point when you are sailing away from the city and past two fortress towers, one on each side. It was a very Pirates of the Caribbean moment.

Last year, we went to Barcelona, Spain. Our hotel room had a view of the city and the Tibidabo mountain in the background. There was a large structure on top of the mountain that was beautifully illuminated at night. I kept thinking it was WDW's Cinderella's Castle. It ended up being a basilica.

This happens to me a lot

Only things I can think of is when the boys and I will be somewhere and one of us will notice a "disneyland smell" usually it's POTC or if they see a Hidden Mickey somewhere.

My air conditioning in my car randomly went out for about 10 minutes a couple of weeks ago. The fan still blew but the air wasn't cold, and it totally smelled like PotC. I was really excited, until it dawned on me that my A/C wasn't working. Luckily it came back on after a few minutes. But I drove the Pirate-mobile for about 5 miles. That was cool.
