  • Jim Henson's 70th Birthday....

Happy Birthday Mr. Henson. You are gone, but are nowhere near forgotten! You have made a positive contribution to the world, and I like to think the world is a little bit of a better place because of you.

We lost you much too early.

    Thank you.

Just remember without a well written Disney Villain, there would be no point in the Heroes and the Princesses. Have you hugged a Disney Villain today?

He passed away in 1990 no wonder I don't remember or know anything about his death, I was 2!

Happy Birthday Jim! We miss you :crybye:

I remember his death. He had been promoting his affliation with Disney (which then fell through after his death). The week previous to his death he had been on the Regis and Kathie Lee (before Kelly) show. When a celebrity dies I am usually sad, but Mr. Henson is the only one I actually cried for.

Regarding his cause of death, he thought he had the flu and so did not seek medical help until it was too late:

In May 1990, Henson contracted what he assumed was a case of the flu; however, when he began having trouble breathing, his wife convinced him to go to the hospital. Henson's illness was not the flu, but an extremely rare -- and aggressive -- strain of bacterial pneumonia. Antibiotic treatment failed, and on May 16, less than 24 hours after entering the hospital, Jim Henson was dead. A shocked nation mourned the loss of one of its best-loved entertainers, but Henson's spirit lives on in his creations and characters, the products of one of the most fertile imaginations of the 20th century. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

I've been a Muppets fan my whole ife and I remember being shocked speechless when I found out Jim Henson died.

I still have my original Muppet Movie & Great Muppet Caper soundtrack albums on vinyl. "The Rainbow Connection" gets me all teary-eye whenever I hear it.

Happy Birthday Jim. Thank you for the countless hours of super entertainment you brought to the world with just a simple green sock and ping pong balls for eyes. You brought so much joy to the world and you passed far to soon.
