I Needed to rant..

Alright, So im sure not many of you will read this and yes ive been gone for quite sometime due to circumstaince and some of you know why some don't and that's fine. Now i need to egt this off my chest,

So i just got a really good job about 2 and a half weeeks ago and started right off the bat as store manager since im under a 3 month propation they can fire me at any time for any real reason which sucks but its true, So today i go into my store and open as planed and my dm comes to hang out and do some interviews for part times or so i thought but i think she was more looking for my replacement becuse she had me call somebody into work sooner then they were to be in and then when they got there she asked me to go to the back room and was like sooooo its not working out we don't think this store is for you and the numbers have come down 20% since u took over and head office sees becuse the only lchange has been a manager they r blameing you, My simple responce was thats fine but you see the mall right now its simpley dead and when we are busy i can pull the numbers but its really hard with the mall so not busy and shes like true but i can't use traffic as an exuse with head office.... So how can they blame for sales when it wasnt me it was the mall u can ask any store and they'd say there numbers have gone down from last year. I Feel like i wasnt really given a fair shot at manageing the store and im pretty upset about it so yeah im pretty upset about this all... Thoughts anybody?

Your excuse sounds fair. I work in sales myself and my store is down in numbers. We will not do well from now until mid-November. The simple fact is that people won't spend that much money until after Thanksgiving for Christmas. My boss doesn't get that, less traffic = less sales. I'm really sorry that has happened.

Its jus really kinda crappy, cus i only got the store 2 weeks ago and i was still learning like everything. But such as life and this city has tons of jobs and with all my expreince i should get hired kinda fast lol but im stil pretty upset about it.

Anyplace that fires you after 2 1/2 weeks... especially in retail... you don't want to work for. Trust me. I worked too many years in retail. Never again!

Working retail sucks. Avoid it if possible. Good luck on your next job. May ot be run by competent people.

I agree with Tom, if a place is willing to fire you after 2 1/2 weeks without you doing something wrong. That's not a place you want to be working. I've been in retail, and corporate offices are often unreasonable. If possible seek employment outside of the retail industry.

Exactly! It the head bosses have no clue that this is a slow time of year for all retail then they don't belong in their jobs either!!!

Such a short time in a store during a down time is not long enough to show what you are capable of. Like everyone else said.... if they are that "stupid" you don't want to work for them anyway. So what will they do when the next person comes in and its the same story? Are they going to keep firing people every 2.5 weeks until they get to the busy season then think the reason is the person they put to manage the store? Yeah.... don't want to be associated with them.... move on.

Good luck in finding another job! Since you seem pretty confident you will be able to find employment elsewhere just move forward and don't look back!

Thanks everyone, Your right and i will walk away and move on manageing that store was on the sketchy side acording to my dm my ast manager could do no wrong when he did stuff and hardly worked in less shes around i don't need that crap i have to go in today to pick up the microwave i broguht in My dm shoulld have been there for me when she wasnt and i cant' control traffic in the mall so boo on her lol

As a current retail/sales manager myself all I can say is ....run away from retail and don't look back it isn't pretty!

retail sucks.....I was once fired...sort of...for opening the store late, because my car broke down. My manager tried to say she would have seen me broken down on the freeweay...w/e...my car was fixed the next day. The DM came to fire me, I explained what happened and all the guy would say was , "your manager really wants you fired."....yeah...ok?...so, I technically got fired, but I called the coporate office, explained what happened, sent the copy of the bill for the reapirs on my car.....and it took about a week, but I was reinstated with full pay for the week or so I was off.

The manager who wantedme fired so bad was later fired for performing sexual favors to another manager in the store and it was all caught in the security camera. I had moved on by then...LOL

anyway...good luck on your job hune and sometimes things happen for good reasons...it just takes a while to see it...

Remember, when job hunting, always stay positive about past employers. Ask your current DM if she doesn't mind giving you a good recommendation. When you apply for new jobs, never say anything bad about the old job. If they ask why you left, just say that it wasn't the right fit for you. Let them know that you are looking for a company that you can make a long term commitment to, and that you have every reason to believe that _______ is that company.
