Why would you join a message board and then not make any posts?

I have saw this on MiceChat and every other board I have ever been on. It just makes no sense to me!

maybe they think they have to they have to join to view.....and then find they don't want to say anything, they just want to read.

well some message boards have porn that you cant view unless you are a member, which is why I joined Micechat, but I was sorely dissapointed, but I stuck around.

It allows the system to track which posts/threads you've already viewed, and which are new since your last visit.

I think some people are just nervous. I was very nervous about posting. Thought maybe I would sound lame or like I didnt know what I was talking about.

I know better now and lame or not I say my peace and no one has said anything bad.
